I think that, in the broad strokes, it’s fairly faithful to the ideas of the comic. The relationship with Jacob seems based on the latter stories where he forms the Colony and their relationship becomes more strained.

At least in the pilot, Alice is about 10,000 times less crazy than in the comics.  She actually seems completely rational like any other supervillain who just has a fetish for a certain get up.

How is this not Florida Man?

I agree.  T2 is a solid action movie, but the only really great thing in it is the vision of Sarah Connor as this badass terrorist locked up in a psych ward because no one believes her about the future.

Gore was a self described moderate on social issues although a strong supporter of the environment and information technology.  But being a moderate Democrat isn’t the same as voting for Reagan.  Saying that he’d vote for Reagan divorced from politics is kind of like saying “If Gore were a c0mpletely different person

I meant in the pilot not the premiere.  The shocking “These people are all a family and it’s happening in two different times” twist seems a cheap way to get attention.

It seems weird to me that people are harping on this movie.  What about the zillions of other films which glorify violence?

I always found the big twist in the pilot kind of cheap.

It’s not the characters you remember from Watchmen.  This is set years later and has all new characters.

I kind of respect that they’re not trying to do anything clever with this and acknowledging how lame it is

I get that reference

Two wrongs don’t make a right.  People have been pointing to some truly horrific sentences which people have gotten, such as one woman who got years in prison for sending her kid to the wrong school.  But the solution is to lessen their sentences, not impose harsher ones on other people.

He was basically dramatic Will Smith.  He wasn’t Deadshot.

Im not the OP, but some people are acting like they killed someone rather than pay some bribes to get their kid into a slightly better school.  Is it wrong?  Sure.  But in terms of Hollywood sins it’s pretty minor.

Yes.  Rick Reilly has written a whole book about Trump’s golf cheating. (With the inventive title “Commander in Cheat”)

Mother Abigail is a 100+ year old magical negro. Other than being a black woman I don’t think Whoopi really fits the bill. And while she’s won awards, and given good performances she’s basically always playing a version of herself and Mother Abigial is... not that.

Thematically resonant or not it sucks ass as an ending because it’s a literal deus ex machina that the heroes have absolutely no role in bringing about.  It makes their entire journey pointless and begs the question of why God couldn’t have nuked Randall Flagg before he killed a whole bunch of people.

Yeah, Stu is one of the first outsiders who the guy infected with Superflu encounters after he escapes, so the military grabs him up to quarantine and then study him.

I know, as bad as being falsely accused is, it’s a very rare occurrence.  Also, false “accusations”, as trotted out by these right wing nutjobs, are extremely rare.  The right wing archetype of false accusations is that some woman makes this up out of whole cloth, either because she had consensual sex which she

The actual characters are often better treated in Mission Impossible than in many action films, but it’s a common thing where we’ve got a bunch of guys, representing a diversity of personality types, if not races, and then we’ve got one woman to represent all of the female side of humanity.  It’s omnipresent across
