I haven’t watched it in a long time but wasn’t the guy in Death and the Maiden actually guilty?

What about the lawyer who bragged “I’m the lawyer who Pittsburgh criminals call when they commit crimes!”

Robert Novak was the “journalist” who published it, but he got the ifnromation from Dick Cheney’s office.  They were looking to punish her, at the time an undercover CIA officer, because her husband, a former US diplomat had publicly poked holes in the Bush administration’s rationale for war with Iraq.

And the reporters who broke the initial story have just come out with a book about it which includes a lot of behind the scenes details and, I believe, some new accusations.

One write up of this I saw seemed to say that Bob thought this was more a case of Harvey pursuing inappropriate relationships and may not have understood that it involved actual assault.

Yeah, this is his brother, who he presumably loves.  It’s not easy to just say “fuck it, I’m tossing him to the cops” with something like this.

I don’t really count Monaghan in Fallout cause she wasn’t on the team and only appeared in really that one scene in the end.  And wasn’t Kirby a pseudo-antagonist?  The fact that we can quibble over it shows some of the problem.  There’s no doubt that Renner, Pegg, and Rhames are on the team.  Why does it always have

In terms of self defense, the other fact is that the people who own the most guns tend to live in suburban or rural areas with very little to no violent crime.  While gun owners often cite self defense as a major reason for owning guns, the reality is that people who actually do live in high crime areas mostly support

No offense, but this is complete and total fucking bullshit.

Scalia only did that because Anthony Kennedy said that he’d side with the liberal justices if the conservatives tried to completely overturn the right of localities to legislate on guns.

If you think guns would help the situation in Hong Kong then you’re a fucking moron. Democracy keeps us free, not guns.

What the fuck are you talking about? There hasn’t been national level legislation on guns in like twenty years or more. We couldn’t even get people to agree to background checks for all sales even after two dozen kids were gunned down. You’ve got people talking shit about Trump because he had the Justice Department

Maybe they’re getting a little more progressive and realized that you can actually have more than one woman on the good guy’s side.

Even then.  Brooke Shields went to his wedding to Katie Holmes a few months after that notorious incident where he criticized her because he came to her house and apologized for how he had acted.

Palin’s numbers were terrible with women.  Even among conservative women she did worse than with conservative men.  My feeling was that women recognized Palin’s selection as the crassest form of tokenism.

If we’re talking about national level politics, sure.  But in pop culture?  It’s not as clear.  There certainly were reactionary films being made, but there were also more radical ones and the same can be said of most eras.

The revolutions of the 1960s were all accomplished by people from the pre-boomer generation.  Even someone like John Lewis, who was conspicuous as one of the youngest leaders in the Civil Rights movement, was born in 1940, years before the Boomer generation really started.

You’re right that there’s a hard core of Trump supporters who will support him no matter what.  But that’s not true of everyone, and we know that because Trump’s poll numbers have regularly been lower than his share of the vote in 2016.  Those are people who presumably changed their mind on Trump. And anecdotally

That makes no sense either.  Do you actually think Trump does anything selflessly or for anyone else?  Politically his only concern is reelection.  He’s not worried about what happens after he goes.

There was an editorial recently from Andrew Napolitano, who is a legal and political commentator on Fox News, and he warned Republicans that if they don’t stand up to Trump on some of these legal issues that they’re going to be sorry because in the future a Democratic president is going to be able to do the same
