Achie is boxing Hiram Lodge, Veronica’s father in what’s supposed to be a showdown to resolve whether Hiram will go through with his proposed plan to buy up Riverdale, but which is, in reality, an effort to distract him and frame him for illegal gambling.  The fight, is an unsanctioned, underground boxing match.

You’re expecting realism from Riverdale?

I figured that that was just some complete bullshit invented by Edgar to mess with Betty’s head and get her deeper into the cult.

But didn’t the kids actually see Jason get murdered on tape?

I’ve come to the conclusion that despite her Queen Bee pretensions, Cheryl is actually pretty weak willed and a joiner.  When she’s the rich girl in high school she fully commits to the rich bitch, popular girl, cheerleader persona.  But then as soon as she hooks up with Toni she becomes a proud Serpent and outlaw,

Also Hiram’s ripping his daughter off for however much she paid to buy Pops.

I was kind of annoyed, because I felt that they went back on some of the change that they introduced with Diyoza by the end of the past season.

I also like that they haven’t been setting up a jealousy/love rivalry thing with Echo and Clarke.  I know some fans want Bellamy and Clarke to hook up but I like the idea that a man and a woman can have a really close and intense relationship without wanting to bone each other.

To be fair, the Sanctum grounders were the ones who aggressively, albeit, non lethally, attacked them without so much as a word. They were also going to space a dozen people rather than negotiating.

I’m a little disappointed that James didn’t counsel her that she’s keeping her secret for her benefit and not Lena’s.   Her keeping the secret doesn’t change her betrayal of Lena’s trust, it just obscures it.  She’s trying to save herself from heartache by alienating her friend, not the other way around.

The main justification was that Jimmy had super powers in the comics.  During the Silver Age he had a number of different heroic identities, mostly ridiculous ones like Giant Turtle Man or Elastic Lad.

You mean after Babylon 5 where he lead a rebellion against a fear mongering nativist president?

They lampshaded it in the episode.  She works for CatCo and Cat Grant was the White House Press Secretary.

They established last season that Alex wanted to be a mom.  But then they kind of let that drop as the adventure aspects of the show got most of the attention.  When they first showed Alex jogging I thought “whatever happened to her wanting to be a mom” and then they had her get the phone call.

I wish they had gone with a more eclectic lineup.  They’ve got two original outisders and then two Bat family members.

It’s prim SF real estate.

I recommend the GQ article “The Truck Stop Killer” by Vanessa Vaselka.  The hook is that when the author was a teenager hitchhiking along the interstate she had to bail out of a semi after the driver pulled a knife on her.  Years later, a friend suggests that the guy may have been Robert Ben Rhoades, a convicted

I agree that it’s gotten boring.  Runaways are inherently boring, at least if they happen often.  Once in a while it’s an impressive display of ability, but when it’s occurring every day it’s boring as hell.  Jeopardy is supposed to be a game show, emphasis on “game”.  It’s not supposed to be “smarmy guy recites
