Someone needs to throw a couple hundred million dollars at this man so he can go make At The Mountains Of Madness.

They really hit the sweet spot starting this site when they did. Geek culture was amping up, science fiction was becoming indistinguishable from reality, and it allowed them to be a powerful voice in shaping perceptions of it all.

The issue is lack of female directors, and lack of projects given to them by the studios. The lack of nominations and therefore awards is a symptom, treating symptoms makes you feel better but it doesn’t get to the underlying issues. Which is the massive power imbalance in Hollywood between the genders, causing these

You can make an argument that Patty Jenkins wasn’t one of the top five directors last year and that omitting her in the category wasn’t a snub.

“It always pushes the suspension of disbelief envelop when I see a 20 somthing actress as a “EXPERT ASSASSIN” Well, when did they learn their trade, in middle school.”

I had no idea Halle Berry and Jennifer garner were still doing action movies after being 40, same with Linda Hamilton or Uma Thurman. Same with sigourney weaver. And Carrie Ann moss. Or Moon Lee who is described as a former actress on her page. Or Pam Grier.

I keep hoping that not announcing replacements means they’re still trying to get Fuller back.

No Bryan Fuller? Me too - I am also leaving the show.

I mean, yeah, dude is 150% wrong, but you could always not be a dick about it. He has to watch his deranged kid get put away for 25-50 years after committing a heinous crime, of course he can’t be objective. Doesn’t mean we have to be pricks about it.

You forgot Star Trek VIII (First Contact).

I feel bad for David Fincher. That movie was already a clusterfuck long before he got his hands on it and/or was thrown under the bus by the studio. The fact that it’s even vaguely watchable is a huge testament to his skill.

The canon explanation should be that Kylo Ren is an epic nard who was posing shirtless in his room for hours just in case Rey called.

I actually thought Rose was a great everyman-type character, showing how someone who wasn’t expecting to be a hero (and who was starstruck by heroes) found her place.

Wow, that is so interesting because as an asian woman, I just saw her as a fucking normal-ass person. Maybe it secretly made me feel normal, too, who the fuck knows. But I’m glad that having an asian woman around feels really unnecessary to you. They should cast only regular normal non-weird real people next time.

Second part I agree. If she was indecisive because of not knowing what to do, it should have been clearer.

Suicide bombers doesn’t really sound like the Rebellion’s type of thing.

There is a real problem within many fandoms with ‘gatekeeping’.
