I’m not sure that they can so long as the vaccine is approved on an emergency basis. Once it’s been approved approved then they may change.

At private prisons? Possibly? In most prisons, between union/employment contracts and their employer being the government complicating things, my initial assumption was they couldn’t, and so I saw that as confirmation. When it comes to jails, it might be interesting to see if this is an issue in any upcoming sheriff…

I think their employer could require it, since they are private prisons. But the cost of the legal battles that would result from employees fighting for their freedumb means they’ll just let their employees get sick and die. Much cheaper.

“Can’t” as in there is no legal mechanism by which these guards can be compelled to get vaccinated. That could be arguably be changed, but even ignoring the previous administration’s judiciary and GQP controlled states, is there enough concern for prisoners to get this changed in “decent” jurisdictions?

I would like Joe to delve into that some more. Because the EEOC and Dept of Labor have both ruled that employers can require getting vaccinated and showing proof without that violating HIPPA or other regulations. 

Vaccine or go home, it’s that simple.

Oh, this is really interesting as well and a great comparison point. As a Californian, I didn’t know much about him before this whole pandemic and his daily briefings early on. He definitely gives off that slimy boorish kind of mafia creep vibe that some of my extended family from back east have, that’s for sure.

Most people who have been following Cuomo for his whole career don’t find this suspicious. He has always been a creepy jackass — he is just a less smooth Bill Clinton.

Dems - including me - did it twice for Bill Clinton who was way worse than Cuomo. The GOP hypocrites in the House rode him hard for all 8 years.

The GOP is going to strangle the Dem’s to death with this if he doesn’t step down. It doesn’t matter how hypocritical they are, the issue remains, if he isn’t forced out, they will be more then happy to slit the Dem’s throat with him staying.

When I briefly lived in Japan the bootleg market was huge. Like you could just walk around Den Den town and see guys selling bootlegs out of boxes on the street.

Japan really has a hard time understanding that if you tell people not to do it, they’ll just do it harder.
