It’s not “counterproductive”. It is an abomination. Again, I understand the sentiment, but we must decide to not be like them. Not to forgive, fuck forgiveness. Certainly not to forget or excuse. But we cannot become like the rapists.
Perhaps I misunderstood you. When we, as a society, agree to do horrible things to “bad” people, we leave the door open to wide interpretation of the word “bad”.
