RAM issue is bunk, it has to do more with the structuring of the engine itself. But PS3 and PC have cross compatibility and play, so that's also moot. Why they don't do it? Idontno!
Don't know why they wouldn't or even COULDN'T be able to. The process for creating a map and saving it across platforms is the same as just lining up dimensional properties and relating them in the game's engine... and that's pretty damn easy to do, even from scratch.
