Jason typically sees safety as either a minimal or total non issue. When he does bring it up, it’s usually just in terms of hand waving it away, in this case with questionable seatbelts.

How would seat belts work for the side-facing seats? Other than as decapitation garrotes, I mean.

This is something I've always wondered about but never cared about to look into. Thanks Andrew!

Similar reason why dump trucks have trailers with long-ass tongues: weight dispersion. A 2 lane bridge may have a 40 ton rating, so the truck and trailer can’t be on at the same time. Hence the 30 foot tongue.

There definitely needs to be more access to raw data. Especially since most of it is taxpayer-funded. The more that people are exposed to the real work, the better. Call it casual oversight. Maybe some astute individual would have noticed that Anil Porto's claim to be a Rhodes Scholar in Australia was a bit dubious

What they’re doing isn’t exactly new. The biggest drawback of using perm magnet motors in EV’s is the “electric drag” they induce at high speed cruise/coast. It appears to overcome this, they shift one set of magnets to reduce the drag effect (think of this as variable cams for perm magnet electric motors).

An older,

As a scientist, I am always wary when the media starts commenting on some “new” “groundbreaking” research. The real data is almost always behind a steep paywall (biggest problem with science as a whole, honestly), and often beyond the knowledge base of the journist writing about it. No slander intended, but I find it

The rear fenders are wider than the front, so they’re susceptible to stone chips. This is to help save it from that damage, and the color is also an homage to older 911s:

Non-Porschophile here.  Whats the deal with the black vinyl at the wheel arch?  Does it serve a purpose or just there as an aesthetic from Porsches of yore.  I’m not really digging it on an otherwise sleek looking car,

I am also human. I run the night shift solo, so the occasional mistake will be made. I did apologize.

Here’s a free Mercedes or Audi ad for whoever wants it.

Geez. As if BMW ownership isn’t already enough of an overpriced subscription service in itself.

Colorado: It seems they’re savages in that box.

Kansas City

Can someone explain to me the mindset?

Yeah I am surprised by the number of people in my neighborhood who post on Nextdoor.com about having things stolen from their vehicles when they leave their doors unlocked in a dense urban area. There are other reports of people who leave their keys in their cars (I have no idea why anybody would do this unless they

#MidwestLife :(

Try that in Detroit.

17" with taller sidewalls is the limit. I don’t even run the 19" that came with my car, I swapped those out ASAP for 17" with a taller sidewall.

They look better and the ride is softer on our Michigan 3rd world nation suffering a civil war style roads.

I know that you can’t always see every pothole, or avoid every pothole in every situation. Let me state that up front. I live in Chicago. Potholes are a way of life. I’ve driven my lowered BRZ into some invisible potholes at night that had the car basically fall onto its front bumper. I’ve also hit potholes violently
