Fixing your own car is like singing in public: not everybody should do it, not everybody wants to do it, but everybody should definitely be allowed to do it.

for anyone who thought they’d get free power for life, this must seem like a real kick in the family joules.

BMW drivers don’t even fill up their blinker fluid and yet now BMW expects them to fill up another tank? C’mon...

Not taking chances.

Fuel is cheap, mass to orbit isn’t. And taking 1 kilo to orbit once and using it over and over is cheaper than taking it back and forth to orbit. Any mass you can leave up and resuse, like a cycling hab module, will reduce the cost of the system significantly versus keeping it all on one surface-to-surface machine.

Its really the amperage not the voltage that kills ya. A taser is around 50,000 volts.

“Also it’s a non-traditional setup. GA pilots, for whatever reason, just don’t like pusher props. Is this thing going to change minds? Meh. Highly doubtful. If Burt Rutan couldn’t do it, I doubt Cobalt will.”

Having worked for UPS and from what I know, even if the package had shed its label, there’s a whole huge department just for that purpose. They are supposed to look up the item anyway they can, make a new label and send it on its way. Something more is going on and its UPS’ fault.

I get what you mean. I think a global standard for specific grades of fuel probably makes the most sense. So if you have ULSD available, you comply to X standards, if you don’t you comply with Y standards. The problem is you can’t actually run the “cleaner” emissions engine on the lower grade fuel or you will destroy

There is one potential hangup with global diesel emission standards at least. I have to deal with them on a regular basis as I work for a company that designs industrial trucks. The big issue for diesels is fuel quality. This wouldn’t be as much of an issue when syncing European and US standards as they’re near

You can get the F-150 3.5EB to 500HP without too much trouble at all.

You do know the 2.3 already in there can get into the 500s on stock block/cams/internals (I forget if the MAPerformance car was turbo swapped or not)... No point in sticking a V8 in there and they did that already, the Focus SVT Cammer (RWD 5.0L V8 special order Kit thru FRPP though I think dealers built a few cos

How about a rear engine Focus with a V6, like the Clio Sport V6? Maybe a V8? If you’re going to go ridiculous, go all the way.

I have no doubt that the new Focus could be very, very fast. But the fastest hatchback it will not be.

“Hard to reach” could also mean “beyond the range of conventional helicopters”

accessing hard to reach areas QUICKLY.

“Hem-hem”
