The argument is that, on its face, Iron Fist is a colonialist mighty whitey premise about a white man who becomes immersed in stereotypical Asian culture and bests the Asian natives at it. That later interpretations subverted the Mighty Whitey trope is beside the point.

Yeah, all of those would make for a great premise. Which means that Scott freaking Buck wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

The review only covers the first six episodes because those are the only episodes that Netflix released for review. That disclaimer is prominently displayed.

I wanted Danny Rand to be played as an Asian American, because:
1) There are next to no series based on an Asian American becoming immersed in Asian culture
2) Stereotype or not, "Asian Martial Artist" series leads boil down to Into the Badlands, and nothing else. "Marco Polo" already has a white guy who does martial

There's still a similar dynamic if he were a rich, Asian-American guy slumming it with the black, working class Luke Cage.

Everybody always points towards the Bloody Baron storyline when talking about The Witcher 3 as a strongly narrative-based game, but that's because the Bloody Baron storyline is the only one that really stands out in an exceptional way.

Speaking of sass, the main character has a lot of it.

The whole "riot grrl" thing sounds kinda weird considering that one of the other major characters that we've seen is the MC's foster dad.

From what I've seen, it's not.

Steve Bannon.

She's apparently supposed to be Drummer, with an expanded role. I like her. She has a good command voice.

I'd love to see Peyton List play a cop in a better written show because, it really has to be said, she looks damn good with a badge and gun on her belt.

God help me but I… liked it? The writing isn't great by any standard but it sure has me interested.

Out of curiosity, does this series have any of the creepy as fuck romance between Walt and Vic? I dropped the series the instant that showed up in the books. Total old man wish fulfillment.

The protagonist's boss (and possible love interest) is a black man.

Counterpoint: Black Widow. It makes her look far more capable when she's in civilians clothing.

Plus, Stick, the Hand, and the Chaste have been an integral part of Daredevil since the beginning.

Sadly, certain things are unavoidable if you are a female character who is created by Frank Miller.

Any show where out of 9 regulars only two are female is some kind of bullshit.

As an Asian American I would have preferred an Asian American (or at least biracial) Danny Rand, because I find a wealthy ABA discovering his ancestral culture to be far more interesting than yet another Mighty Whitey storyline.
