"Hey, guys. Remember when we completely snubbed Fruitvale Station two years ago, even thought it was a fantastic movie that receive a ton of critical acclaim? Well, in his second film the director took what could have been a bland nostalgia-fueled cash grab and turned it into one of the best movies of the year.

She interacted with Wookies in the years she's been on Jakku?

A B? What the hell, AV Club? Oh wait, it's Dowd.

They could have included Lazarus. Forever is insanely awesome and definitely a strong female character (being written by Greg Rucka, this characteristic is basically a given).

The pacing is incredibly poor (although this usually affects most webcomics) but more seriously, the writing seems to have gotten far less nuanced and intelligent and far too simplistic.

SFP seems to have gone off the rails in a bad way this year, however.

Ctrl F's "Lazarus", "Velvet"

Limitless is better. Yeah, that's right.

Also, IIRC the identities of Navy SEALs are public, it's just their missions that are classified. A woman who actually passes BUDS and becomes an active SEAL would make the national media.

Yep. In the POI-verse instead of being a special forces/intelligence organization which provides real time intelligence and support to the sexier Tier 1 special forces operations the Intelligence Support Activity is an utterly terrifying black wetworks group running death squads in the continental US and beyond.

Or she could be ISA, like PoI's Sameen Shaw, which is both a covert intelligence unit that employs women and is also highly secretive (to the point that it changes its name every few years).

Hayden may be… Hayden, but you've gotta admit that her "Oh God!" face and then immediately punching Liam was hilarious.

… No? I certainly don't recall anything like that.

Kira is Scott's chemistry-free love interest who only recently has been allowed to stop failing miserably at life/Teen Foxing (although for some reason we're apparently supposed treat this development as troubling).

Honestly this episode really doesn't deserve an F. Are large parts of it pointless? Yes. But it still isn't aggressively bad in the way that actually merits an F grade. A C-, maybe, but not an F.

This is actually fairly tame for an F review. Check out The Following, or Hostages, for some good ones.

The killer's only interested in killing specific people?

None of this is relevant because Ani isn't in the LAPD, she works for the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, whose detectives don't specialize.

Rock salt (or beanbag rounds).

She and her partner had completed her task (delivering the foreclosure notice). A missing person in your jurisdiction is also an important matter that requires attention.
