People don’t naturally do a good job of processing risk. Things that are familiar or where people have a sense of control are processed as less risky than things that are unusual or where people feel like they are not in control. This helps explain why people fear flying a lot more than driving even though driving is…
Don’t know why he’s on there, but Trump isn’t a billionaire. Not anymore. The question is...lol, was he ever? Maybe on the day of his inheritance.
Nah, his bid died weeks ago. These are the gases released from the cadaver after rigor mortis begins to set in.
I think you’re confusing the president with Congress.
Aside from the fact that this is a gross simplification and basically untrue, the reason the president has been trying to exert as much power as the executive branch can is because Congress refuses to do anything because the majority party - Republicans - has stated its only goal is to block every single thing the…
Preach it, brother. I generally agree with Hamilton on a number of things, but his idiotic insistence that the Senate needs to be abolished is stupid beyond comprehension. If he wants to see a real 2nd Civil War, trying to abolish the Senate would do exactly that.
“we base those electoral college votes on states, rather than on population”
The two party system is a beautiful thing. Tell me how much you like extra parties when they New Trump Populist party wins with 37% support.
We have an electoral college, designed explicitly to ensure that the popular vote can be thwarted; we base those electoral college votes on states, rather than on population;
I don’t think it’s fair to lump Social Security and Medicare in as “entitlements”. I have a deduction on my paycheck every 2 weeks for both of those. As far as I’m concerned, the Government is saving that for me, not GIVING it to me.
After decades of propaganda, Republicans have succeeded in making Americans hate the words, “welfare” and “entitlements”, but not actual welfare/entitlement programs.
But, you don’t think talking about the national debt is a worthwhile exercise? The 20 TRILLION dollars
While I agree with you, I think the point was that a discussion about national debt doesn’t matter in this particular presidential debate/election, because we’re basically voting on whether or not we’re okay with a white supremacist being elected into office. National debt certainly matters quite a bit, but Trump’s…
The debt is a really hard issue to debate as it is a pretty complex topic and the majority of the viewers aren’t clear between the debt and the deficit. Considering Trump never offers policy proposals, I’m not sure what he would say about it other than he is the only person who could fix our debt problem overnight.
Apparently removing his mask and exposing that would be the only thing that would cause the last of his supporters to jump off the moving Trump Train.
Good points, especially about Trump, especially since what led to his ability to not pay taxes was that his companies took massive losses which destroyed shareholder value. He actually owed it to his shareholders NOT to lose billions of dollars and go into bankruptcy.
The public needs to be better informed about how fiduciary duties work. Trump’s bs excuse about how he owed a fiduciary duty to minimize his personal tax burden demonstrated that even reporters lack a basic grasp of the concept. Moreover, there’s a difference between ethical or responsible corporate behavior and…
There was a great article in the WaPo Op Ed section about this. For all the irreparable harm our “socialist, communist, Muslim, Kenyan-born” President has done to the country, the markets have grown by 50%.
