They might encourage self-regulation on the part of the students (that is, reporting on classmates). I have heard of other schools with such honour codes doing the same thing.

My mother was exactly the same way about my grandmother; I was never allowed to visit her in Spain nor spend time alone with her on the rare times she was in Canada lest she do something to turn me against my mom.

Yes. Thank you. This is what I was thinking, right down to "if Criminal Minds has taught me anything..." Just because not all women set things down more tidily than men doesn't mean it's not a conceivable theory. There are also cultural differences between then and now which are the result of over 100 years of social

I don't know about dating, but once I was dating, my family leaned on me about my choice not to have sex before marriage. I have been asked, in all seriousness, "How will you know if you're compatible if you don't take him out for a test drive?"

I have for you a story not of what my mother told to me (although she has her fair share of gems), but what my grandmother recently said to my mother:

I don't want to see Mitt Romney in leather pants.

I wonder sometimes if that's not the only reason I rewatch Iron Man 2. She was awesome and hypnotizing. I can't wait to see The Avengers.

Riding in the bed of a truck is the most awesome part about driving around on huge tracts of private land.

I miss my typewriter more than I can possibly say. It was an Underwood with the most satisfying feel to it. Unfortunately, it slowed down my typing considerably, but it made me a far more deliberate typist when I used it.

Golden retriever, I am told.

This week, I went to the doctor to discuss my options for birth control, the HPV vaccine and whether or not I need a pelvic exam and the like. The doctor was awesome, and praised me on my being so well-read on my options and the related procedures.

Me! I gave up and just did a screen cap of the gif. I'm lazy. (I counted seven.)

That dress is amazing and is exactly what high school is for! I wish I'd had the gumption to wear something so bold. I wish I had the gumption.

There is no room for bashful when you look like that. I would strut. (I already do strut, truth be told, and I don't have a body half that smokin'.)

Why are the schools closed on Wednesdays?

I always feel like a rebel when I break free of the long line and duck into the (usually empty!) men's room. And then I strut out, bladder empty, past the envious looks of those still trapped in line.

As a child, my mother was kicked out of the girls' bathroom at her school because she had short hair and did not have her ears pierced. Apparently, this meant that she was obviously a little boy, skirt or no skirt.

I have had a few friends who come across as incredibly masculine for one reason or another. Generally speaking, they take a stance of 'laugh it off' when people mistake them for men. Hopefully, if she even noticed, that's how the woman in the bathroom would have viewed your double-take. :)

Oh, have fun! :D

Once, in junior high, we were asked to write catchy headlines as a writing exercise. One of the boys in class came up with, "Texas Declared Inbreed Capital of the World; Alberta Outraged."
