My experience is that the Do Not Call Registry doesn’t really deter anyone. I’ve had my number on it for several years, and at least once a week I get spam calls. Most of them are blocked by Hiya, but sometimes they still ring once.
Hiya’s Call Protection does block a number after a certain number of users have reported something. but “wildcard” blocking could be handy, too.
