Wow this game has some early haters. Good RPGs do indeed take 7 years to make. Dragon Age Origins was like 5-7 years.

I have a friend who is a gamer like this. He *only* buys the big name games like Mass Effect, Halo, or his online friends will talk him into stuff like Borderlands or Ultimate Alliance.

Only 3 raids? Ouch. That killed DCUO for me. Raids were so slow to come, and then they tried just making them harder by forcing raid teams to split up and increasing the boss battle difficulty by giving them 1 hit kills way too often.

Tomb Raider Legend was a fun little game, and that already was a reboot.

The death of used games won't be nearly as painful as the DRM in consoles that targets not just used games, but online accounts, game saves, and most importantly CONTENT.

The mask is not a problem, everything else about Nolan's Bane is. Don't even get started on the Anne Hathaway disaster, or the absurd Football Field sequence.

There is a big difference between "copious number crunching" and simply having stats.

Morrowind is my fav FPRPG of all time. Oblivion/Skyrim, it's a toss up really. Oblivion gates sucked and level scaling sucked, but Skyrim has gimped spell crafting and the quests are garbage. Magic is broken completely in Skryim and there are no stats at all in the game.

I agree with the author, there are strong arguments either way. Personally, I'm still stuck on the "Why does D3 look like WoW" problem before I even get into the gameplay, I'm still cranky about how it's all Purple and Pink now.

I'm not "hostile to newcomers". I like RPGs with stats. I don't care who else likes them, in fact I *want* new people to like RPGs with stats.

Sony could try listening to Sony fans who have been buying sony consoles since the 1990s. Instead they insult us and do things like REMOVE FEATURES from the PS3 and spam us with Qore and mandatory Firmware upgrades that don't improve the system at all.

Exactly, they can make it 'social' by cramming in Multiplayer and make it required to get the best ending, like Mass Effect 3 and essentially ruin a single player game for people who want every single game ever made to be MP.

The PS2 port is actually VERY GOOD for a PS2 FPS game. Everyone who says the PS2 port is bad falls into 2 categories.
