She is the human embodiment of an Onion article. Like that could not be more stereotypical ‘well-meaning white’ phrasing; maybe she hangs out with Paula Deen on the weekends.

god damn these onions :’)

I want to give them all of the money. If you find one please let me know!

Suing, in this case, DOES seem like justice. As a result of this incident the little girl, who was on partial scholarship to a school that was probably not cheap, has to be homeschooled, which must be costing the parents a bundle in childcare and/or missing work to do so. Plus there is no way she’s not going to need

I also want to send them money for legal fees. Trying to find a gofund or something, but Google is letting me down :/

When I’m anxious I can’t feel hungry. I guess my stomach would rather just eat itself, because even when i remember to eat it just feels icky. BUT when I’m just sad? Food is super comforting. So post-grad unemployed/depressed = gain 12lbs. Death of family members = lose 15. Isn’t life great? :|

Also in the stress nausea camp, with extra embarrassing belching/tummy grumbles thereafter :(

Love the skirt and the bag, but I feel like she should’ve followed Coco Chanel’s advice and taken at least one thing off before leaving the house.

Lol it appears that you’re getting your ass sufficiently handed to you on the language thing. I’m not sure I understand your first point anyway; how is accurately describing stuff not inherent in “facilitating communication?”

Small bone to pick: doesn’t seem like its an “artificial addition” if the language is being changed because it’s not doing its job, which is to accurately describe stuff.

Idk I think it’s a valid concern for a mother of two boys growing up in this society/culture. Humans generally aren’t monsters but they do learn certain behaviors. You hope you’re teaching them to be respectful of everyone’s boundaries but they may learn different lessons from other people/situations. My mom was a

Someone upthread said they would show this to their kids when they got old enough (actually perhaps that was you, i can’t find it now...) Anyway sounds like you’re doing a great job already :)

Huh, I thought the point was that rape culture affects everyone, including and perhaps especially normal, non-rabid-tiger people. Ergo there is actually plenty of need to be paranoid, unfortunately

my thoughts exactly, what the hell kids?! Bet they grow up to be, like, stock brokers or accountants or something

came here for Dean Winchester, was not disappointed. <3 the early seasons

low-key dying at my desk right now, omg. This is good kinja

That’s true. It just seems like viewing it as an issue of protecting women/a woman’s profession alone contributes to (and maybe tacitly agrees with) the assumption that prostitution says something about women and women’s sexuality. Like talking about birth control as only a woman’s issue: women are disproportionately

Thanks for being the first comment to mention that men and other folks perform sex work too! Every other comment (including the article, although I didn’t read Carter’s OP) was all “but what will we be teaching the boys about women’s bodies?!?” Which is dumb.*

Totally anecdotal, but mr. culpa and I are watching Cheers on netflix (11 seasons. Oh my god. We’re barely into season 3) and one thing I immediately noticed* was that although there are no PoC main characters (or speaking parts, or really anything not stereotypical for women/poc/genders/sexualities. Smh the 90's.
