Sweetie, hate to tell you, but Japan as a country actually has black people in it, and is also one of the most openly racist societies in the developed world.  If you don't think that racism is morally repugnant no matter WHO is doing it, the problem is YOU.  Furthermore, this article is specifically criticising the

The problem here is that the director tried to insult our intelligence with a very, very stupid answer, not with a story justification.

Honestly, a pretty diseased and toxic mindset you have going on here. That criticism is either a power to police and FORCE people to do things or it is not that (which is... weak, I guess?). That’s not how critical response works at all and you are the one putting off deeply weird vibes by suggesting this.

I mean if you create a fantasy world devoid of black people that says a lot about you and your world view.

I mean its fine if you want to have all white people in your story, it’s just disingenuous to be like “yeah they’re all white because something about regional isolation” instead of “they’re all white because I don’t think black people should be in it.”

Who are we? We’re the people that buy and play the games. We’re not forcing anything on “Japan” a country of many millions of ppl most of whom don’t give a shit about JRPG’s.

We’re telling the ppl who want us to buy their shit how to get it done.

The issue, aside of her raging transphobia, is that she’s basically in bed with fascists and people who want to force women back in the kitchen, and want to take LGBTQ+ rights away:

Bullshit, plenty of people called her out for being performative at best when it came to stuff like Dumbledore being gay, and she's been friends with Baroness Emma Nicholson for decades.  I don't think she was always transphobic to the degree she is now, but I don't think had the healthiest of opinions of trans people

Hoo boy.

Leaked video of the Toad musical number:

But there’s something especially funny about this in particular”

I didn’t expect them to buff Sombra so much.

Absolutely.

I honestly feel like a good amount of progress has been made on that front. There’s still a long way to go, but it’s a hell of a lot better than the last time Queer as Folk was relevant.

The thing that gets me about this take is the show seems to go out of it’s way to not do that. For every terrible guy in each episode there seems to be at least one good guy and one shitty woman “balancing” them out. It takes effort to wrangle “This show is saying all men are shit” out of it.

I mean I’m enjoying it , but it’s really leaning a bit too hard into the men are all terrible trope, which it needs to pull back on a little.

Same age:

Today I discovered that Renee Elise Goldsberry is 51.

People have been coming to Kotaku for video game news with a generally progressive slant for an actual decade or so. Do you not remember GamerGate?
