I am so sorry to hear that. I hope you find recovery soon. Dealing with any health issue, especially with zero support, is emotionally draining on top of that and it’s well known that emotional and physical health are strongly connected. I feel like our country has failed us on so many levels.

I hate to say this, but why can’t the evil people be the ones who get seriously ill and die?  

I despise that book. Such a time waster. Is secret history actually good, or just as bad as goldfinch?

I hated the first one, which also needed an editor who was actually awake and doing their job.

Tartt has an editor?!? I would never have known. Twice I’ve started her books and twice I have thrown them down in disgust at her inability to get to the point. I was probably 3/4 into the Secret History when I finally gave up. She’s tiresome and pretentious. A good writer who needs an editor. Any bloody editor please.

After a very promising start I had difficulty finishing it. 

It seems to be highly recommended, but the only other Donna Tratt book that I have read is The Goldfinch and I found it a bit of a slog. Is this one a slog, does the big reveal seem super obvious?

I agree. And I’m not defending this woman or any of the other female CEOs that have been called out. However I also think it’s undeniable that women are judged more harshly than men, by men which is ‘expected’ but by women too which is a little more complicated.
