It really amuses me how much serious attention and praise this show has received, given that—as we all know now—it’s really just a pulp mystery with not a lot of payoff.

This all day everyday.

I used that to my advantage this weekend because I’ve been needing to purge forever but I’m so bad at letting go of clothes because I might want to wear them some day, even though I haven’t worn them in five years.  So I tried on every dress in my closet and like almost half of them went in the giveaway box.

Boom.  I wish this was at the top.  Would have saved me 30 minutes although I don’t have nearly the skill that you demonstrate in tearing this mess apart.

This piece is a fan paean, not a review of the show. If Amy Adams wasn’t the star of this tedious production, it would have been panned. The entire show about the murders of young girls in a small town turned the murders in to McGuffins - until the last ten minutes when everything suddenly everything hinges on them.

there were roughly 12 intense minutes in eight episodes. People staring at each other and drinking is not intense.

I completely agree. I feel like that final shot (and subsequent credit scenes) cheapened just about everything else shown before it. We wasted 7 hours to get to this? It was sloppy. I didn’t even have time to consider that the ending was actually surprising because I was just disappointed.

I was a little disappointed. This was a very lopsided episode and rushed despite how slow paced and methodical the entire series was up until this point. The post credits scenes were unnecessary in a “whoa you didn’t see this coming so let’s show you what this looks like” sort of way. It felt almost condescending.

Strom Thurmond fathered a mixed race child by raping his 15 year old maid.

THANK YOU for running!!!!!!!!!!  Kick ass, take names.

People with weak chins and horse teeth should confront their mothers asap.

NAMES. Keep the names. Quotes, dates, times, circumstance. Write it allll down. We will want to know.

thank you for running

Thank you for your service.

Thank you for doing what you’re doing and it’s gross, but not altogether shocking, that you’re getting vitriol and sexism from the Democrats/left. There is definitely a deep strain of misogyny among some progressives that we will need to reckon with. I don’t know where in the country you are, but if you were running

Thank you for running. And I do hope you win.

I hope you have a good group of people around you and carry on the good work. The level of racism and sexism I’ve seen in the Left (who seem to hold the same views as the Right outside who “owns the means of production”) is shocking but unsurprising so I can’t imagine what it’s like to actually have to be subject to

It sucks that you are struggling with the Dems too! We have to unite if we’re going to get anywhere. Thank you for throwing your hat into the ring. I can’t imagine the stress and vulnerability that would entail - but it is SO important. You are doing something great!!

Your bravery can’t be overstated. I would’ve valued a nice, quiet life over the hell you must be experiencing. Thank god we have strong people like you enduring it for us

It’s funny that you think Trump or any of his lackeys are smart enough to pull off what they did in 2016. This was a coup. Our entire election system was upended by a foreign government and an embedded agent. (Trump) The attack on our democracy was committed with MILITARY precision, the likes of which very few
