Can we stop using stock photos of nuns in wimples and habits though? After Vatican II, habits and wimples became totally optional in most convents, and so the majority of nuns don’t wear them anymore.

I’ve met a lot of nuns in my line of work (so skewed to SJW) and none of them were like Kim Davis. They would have all rolled their eyes at her over their third gin and tonic...

If I could be a nun or religious sister without religion or celibacy, and basically live in a house with a bunch of cool women while making society a better place, I’d totally do it.

Sooo thankful we did not stop this year. We take a longass drive to grandma’s. YES. WAFFLE HOUSE WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE. ( the first time this has ever been said).

Ice-T is the fucking best. Never stop T.

Doubly so for a young woman raised in a strictly patriarchal family model. For mainstream people, going back home to Mom would be A Thing. Mom can make it all better and give you hugs.

In fairness, living with parents is the most common solution for a young person who’s dealing with a sudden loss of income and marital problems, regardless of the family’s values, functionality, and level of support of past bad choices. It’s probably the most normal thing about this whole mess.

Yeah. This is a bit like running back to the people who sold you into slavery in the first place. It’s not likely to help her.

That got my hopes up for a second! I think that, reading between the lines, this is less of Anna leaving Josh and more that she’s a pregnant, non-working mother of three small children whose husband is going to be away and not earning income for several months and simply needs somewhere to go. Some time away from Josh

I’m not losing any sleep over anything thought or tweeted by a 13 year old child.

Honest to God, pregnant women don’t need “excuses” for drinking coffee. Or having the occasional glass of wine or beer. Or eating lunch meat. Or having cats (yes, this actually something some people try to shame pregnant women about). Or any of a host of other things. Women’s bodies don’t become public domain just

2-3 cups of coffee?! HEAVEN FORFEND.

I actually don’t drink alcohol in general (I despise feeling even slightly tipsy) but I think the rabid shaming of any woman who dares to sip a beer in pregnancy is total moralizing, body-controlling BULLSHIT.

That’s exactly what was thinking!

thank you so much for introducing “douchecanoe” to me. i’ve been looking for the perfect word to describe my ex and this fits the bill.

“My street cred, especially in the black community, in this city, is huge. I grew up on the West 4th Street basketball courts. I grew up multicultured. I grew up with Stonewall, I grew up on the laps of drag queens,” he said.

Let’s just say he was very smart to refuse to let them use his real name. The trolling from online and onslaught of hilarious black twitter insults he would have endured would be breathtaking to behold.

Pro tip: When arguing in favor for your “street cred,” it is ill advised to anecdotally reference the fact that black people historically fled from you because they thought you were a cop.

So when I tell you I’m having a fight about white privilege with this man, I’m slightly guilty because I’m moving in to gentrify a neighborhood, except I’m the first one here when nobody wants to live here.

“Grew up with Stonewall” and he thinks that’s going to help his street cred?
