As an artist this elitist bullshit is why no one listens to us. We ask amateurs to look at art and come to conclusions and to form opinions about art all the time. Allowing only those who dabble in that art to critique it is foolhardy. Also you know damn well Leibovitz can do better. Her lighting on dark skin is

Lighting dark skin is not the same as lightening it.

I’ll critique what I want. as far as ms. Liebowitz? it is what it is. she can do better.

From what I see, the critiques wishes to lighten the subject up.

meh - Artists shouldn’t show theri art to amatuers if they don’t want it critiqued.

OK. Well, as a professional photographer my opinion is more valid, oui?

These are shit. They look like they didn’t go through a modicum of post processing.

Which shouldn’t matter because a good image starts in front of the camera. Like my college prof used to say...you can’t polish a turd. And these photos were doomed

Bullshit, elitist bullshit that reserves the right of opinion for a narrow-focused, insular few.

Nah; that’s like saying that if you’re not an automotive engineer, you can’t complain about the wheels falling off your new car. You don’t need to be an expert to see an issue.

To some extent, amateurs are highly able to detect problems in art, just awful at identifying and diagnosing it.

That is very possible. Still vehicular homicide.

This is fucking devastating, and punches me in the gut as someone who grew up on a lake and saw my fair share of accidents. I hope that they have trained child psychologists who can gently and effectively question her son to get a few more details. Did she dive in the water head first? Could have hit her head and

Interestingly, Christian Cooper isn’t the one who called the cops so your point would be irrelevant even if it was an actual point.

and if Christian had called the cops on Amy saying she was threatening him you’d have a point but you don’t now do you? Troll.

I’m gonna say it...

You’re asking the wrong question.

I mean, Trump’s spent the vast majority of Jr’s life having no contact with him. I’d be surprised if this were any different.

Here in MA most people have taken to wearing a mask thank GOD (aside from the few loudmouths of course). You can see in the overall numbers....it works. Keeping distance, wear a mask, wash your hands. Three very, very, very simple things can stop things from getting crazy and save lives.

Coming from the other side, I have a biological father who, for his own reasons, has denied our kinship in public to people on several occasions, all involving money, none (to my knowledge) to protect me from any kind of harm.

Just remembering that plot line makes me cringe. The only slightly redeeming thing I could say about it was at least they gave two actual Native Americans the roles of her parents? But even so... big yikes.

I still think Krakowski playing a white-passing Native American on "Kimmy" was in poor taste, but I seemed to be in the minority, at least over in the AV Club.
