I could see R2 telling everyone the story in some context, as long as the end of the movie doesn’t have him writing a book called “the Star Wars”. That schtick has been done to death.

It’s a pretty clear false dichotomy. Black Panther was a Marvel movie, sure. But it was also a grown-up film with something to say about the legacy of racism that was at least as sophisticated as anything Scorsese said in The Departed. Which, last I checked, was the film that Scorsese finally won an Oscar for.

This is and always has been a shallow and classist way to talk about art.

well whatever it is they should get cozy in its gooey insides and fuck.

Popular art is still art.

In fairness, part of the “used future feel” of the Star Wars universe has always been that their computers operate at a “best of the 1980's” feel. For some reason (and by “for some reason”, I mean Rule of Cool and We’re Working With Models Here, Give Us A Break) AI can be sentient, and it can plot jumps through

The only thing I want is for Rey and Kylo Ren to have dirty, dirty mind sex. I know it’s like a trillion-dollar kid-friendly intergenerational space saga, but I’m telling you, Disney, graphic, morally-conflicted fucking is what this series needs!

I guess Adam Driver is kinda like cilantro: some people just have that unfortunate thing where cilantro tastes like soap. And some people have that unfortunate thing where Adam Driver is actually appealing. Thank God I know better.

I am not quite moved by a still of Pelosi simply doing her job

a male student felt targeted by the notes and no longer left safe attending class.

There are a million reasons you could be making $15/hr after an expensive college education and have done everything “right”.  See: social workers, teachers, certain med techs, marketing, writing, SO MANY THINGS.  A degree is enough to get you in the door (sometimes).  It doesn’t come with a salary guarantee.

I did the same thing. I pay $110 a month and now owe $20,000 more than I originally did! WHEN your loans get forgiven, in THIRTY YEARS, I’m under the impression that it will be taxed as income. That being said, we got time! I figure either the whole country will burn or student loan debt will be somewhat forgiven,

I’m happy for her and I’m glad she got to celebrate and that her hard work paid off.

But did the father hug him after that?

The quote from his father, Michael McGlockton, is GREAT. No hugging bullshit:

Being tolerant toward a man with the blood of tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis on his hands? I think not, idiot.

I won’t steal it, because I’m not a hack, but “We get it both of you are living glamorously.” is maybe the best sentence ever written re: celebrities eating salad.

I’m so happy you’re a fan of my work!

I hate the interviews where the star and interviewer at a top restaurant where the star picks at a salad the whole time. We get it both of you are living glamorously
