I like it. I like this kind of style for fresh new Nintendo IP - its reminiscent of Advance Wars, but brighter and slicker. Its their Overwatch-kinda thing, and since Splatoon did it really successfully, they seem to be rolling out (no pun intended) similar styles in other titles like Tank Troopers. Its got attitude…

Pokemon movies are always dumb-as-dirt garbage. But man, they are always unusually gorgeous. Like seriously; these are lovingly painted backgrounds - you could slot these into a Miyazaki or Mamoru Hosoda or Makoto Shinkai flick. Why waste that effort?
