Yes. I’m not a big fan of Marmite as such (I’ve tried it on toast, and while I didn’t reach for the mouthwash, it’s not something I feel like doing again), but it’s great for adding depth of flavor to things like soups and stews.

I haven’t seen The Last Jedi (and don’t plan to), but at least this explains why there were *so many people* at my local theater who wanted to complain about sound issues. (I already know that people here don’t understand how movies work.)

And, okay, by “so many people” I mean four or five. But a “crowded” showing

American palates will find the Jolly Spaghetti the most curious, which requires getting over the idea that a spaghetti sauce can be sweet.

Goodwill may not throw it out. I have service for 12 (missing a couple of pieces, but since I have a family of two, and am unlikely to be serving more than 4 people on a regular basis, who cares), in a very pretty pattern, that I bought at Goodwill for $25, several serving dishes + things like salt and pepper shakers

Yes. I really want a set of dishes that my father uses now. They are not expensive. They are Corelle. But they were my family’s “good china” (the everyday stuff came from the supermarket, in one of those “spend $10, get this week’s piece for $1" deals) when I was a kid, and then they became the everyday dishes, and I

I’ve heard stuff about him (not specific accusations), from DFL (Minnesota Democrat) circles—Keillor is/was very active in the DFL, and spoke at quite a few events when I lived in Minnesota—for years. Not specifics, as I said, and not outright accusations of assault, but “he’s a creeper, don’t make female volunteers

If Minnesota Public Radio wants to cut all ties with Garrison Keillor, that means they can’t use a show title (or any other aspects of the show) that belongs to him. And apparently, they want to cut all their financial and creative ties to him.

Yeah, me too. I mean, assuming that MPR is telling the truth about the independent investigation by outside lawyers... they’re not going to suggest firing—even in today’s climate—for that.

Of course, I wonder how much of Keillor’s “we remained friendly” was “she felt like she had to be polite to me because I could

I think he was also a producer (at least in name) for the current version of PHC, as well as doing Writer’s Almanac.

He almost certainly owns or co-owns the name, so if they want to cut all ties with him (and stop having to pay him anything), they’ll have to rename the show.

I think he was still producing, but he was also still doing “Writer’s Almanac.”

His last episode was in 2016. And IIRC he at least partially owns the rights to the name (I know his lawyers are the ones who sent a C&D to a company selling “Prairie Ho Companion” t-shirts, not MPR’s lawyers), so if they want to completely sever all ties with him, they’d have to change the name.

I used to find Vegemite, weirdly enough, in the supermarket in the small Southern town where I grew up. They had a small section of “imported” foods, and for some reason, Vegemite was there. Back in the early 90s. I have no clue. (I understood why there were Japanese foods; there were a few Japanese families in town.

Okay, but the Italian restaurant in the small midwestern town I live in now has 5 stars on Yelp, has been in business for 50 years, and is run by first-and second-generation (the children of the original owners) Italian immigrants—and has terrible, terrible food. The only people who eat here are locals, and most of

Yes. I wish they’d focus on actual missing episodes, instead of “Shada,” which I hate to say, but I’m getting very very tired of at this point.

My dad does this kind of thing for the holidays. We have deli meats, the kind of stuff we don’t normally buy (gourmet chips, fancy olives, etc.), and just eat stuff we like.

We do go to a big holiday dinner, but we don’t bring home any leftovers, and for the rest of the weekend, it’s deli sandwiches all the way.

Sort of.

I’m always torn. I love the fresh stuff. On the other hand, I don’t like homemade cranberry sauce *nearly* as well on leftover turkey sandwiches.

Canned pumpkin is not necessarily the worst choice ever, but canned pumpkin pie filling is a travesty. At least make your own pie filling, ffs.

Nutmeg is also very good with spinach.
