I think it gets the very concept of selfishness wrong. Selfishness implies you are keeping or taking something for yourself that should rightly belong to or be shared with someone else. You can’t be selfish towards hypothetical children.

I myself am a parent and I’ve never understood how it is selfish for someone to pass on having children. Look at it from a purely economic standpoint. You have a heavier tax burden than I do, you pay property taxes to support a school system you don’t use, etc. 

What in the world do two people who are not planning on having children need with 5 bedrooms? That just seems excessive.

Hell, we do meal prep Sundays and still buy a ton of pre-cut, pre-washed produce because we don’t have a huge kitchen.
