I think a combination of being from a family with a lot of money but also not doing the whole savings account thing.

Maybe because what he said a) wasn’t a joke and b) wasn’t even really funny? Mostly just fascinating that a man so high up in government can so fundamentally not understand government.

I had a similar moment during Halloween this past year. I cannot compare our situations completely, but this past year I’ve been living alone and working full-time while doing grad school full-time. I am so appreciative that I have a job and get to do graduate school, but I’ll never forgot those intense feelings of

You are NOT alone and I completely understand the feeling. I’m in my mid-20s and I feel like everyone is getting engaged, getting new and better jobs, moving to awesome cities, having so much fun on weekends, while I’m just working constantly. I really hate social media for this reason, deep down I know that these

Its a huge problem with contemporary feminism. This belief that if a woman does something, it is automatically empowering and feminist simply because she’s a woman.

Exactly. That’s what so many mental health professionals are upset about, too. It kind of sends a message that suicide happens because of isolated events that are terrible. That’s a terrible message to send to people.

I think it is important to state that he is Cuban because the Cuban demographic has some serious racism problems and is often highly conservative and discriminating to other Hispanics and other races. Also, the OP for this thread stated “aggrieved white male,” implying they assumed Artiles is white. I think its

The Cuban voting bloc tends to be extremely conservative, and there is rampant racism within the South Florida Cuban and Cuban American community.

Its...amazing. I was in the thick of binge-watching this show while simultaneously in the thick of a pretty huge job search. Fortunately I got my dream job, I’m moving, I’m making more money...and Hulu should have the latest season of Pump Rules up soon. LIFE IS GOOD.

Its pure escapism, and also oddly comforting to watch young attractive people live their lives in perpetual stasis with no long-term plans while the rest of us slave away, with goals and ambitions and rent and commitments.

Right, also in the beginning when she writes at length about how when TSA tells her to do something she doesn’t “scream and run and throw a tantrum like a toddler” baffled me because...neither did the guy on the United flight? Like it kills me that she actually tries to use the argument of “there are two sides to

I thought Season 5 was phenomenal.

Come on, you don’t actually believe that. Most people DESPISE Lena Dunham and Girls. Whenever The Atlantic or NYT post anything about Girls, the comments are just vicious.

I honestly think the show should have ended with the season 5 finale. This seemed so out of place, out of character, out of everything. And it was straight up depressing. I too love the show and have been defending it for years, but this last season was all over the place. I just can’t get behind the whole baby plot.

I don’t know if its fair to call her mentally ill. I think Marnie is just selfish and ignorant and her main issue is that she doesn’t know what the hell she is doing with her life. Seriously, at this age, its so easy to flounder around and not make commitments and not have a set path, but that can lead to some pretty

Same exact experience with me. There are parts of the show that are SO relatable and real that it gives me almost an upset feeling in my stomach. I don’t think the show is perfect, but its a damn good series that I’ve really invested in, especially since I aged along with the characters (give or take a few years).

Yeah, I was kind of struck at just how depressing this finale was. I didn’t like it at all. And I’ve been watching Girls since the very beginning. I just hate this whole subplot in general, and I think maybe the series should have just ended with the season 5 finale, which was phenomenal.

Oh it was 100% the second point. It was basically “you need to follow the airlines no matter what”.

Yeah, it was a terrible post. And it also led to me hate-reading her blog for about two hours at work.

Could be worse. Someone posted a link to a blog called “The Pilot Wife Life” in which some Midwestern stay at home mom wrote a post coming from “the other side” of the matter since the media apparently “only showed the side of the passenger.”
