Agreed. I didn’t realize the Stephen Colbert backlash was already scheduled.

I LOVED the first season and barely made it through the second. The dynamics were just perfect with all the siblings, and it wasn’t really the same after.

Exactly. This is no different from doing a remodel on your home with no permits and risking it all being inspected. I guess its just getting attention because she’s a ~hippie in a tree~.

Same here. I am not a virgin but I don’t worry about waking up in strangers’ beds or getting STI’s or becoming pregnant, even though I am sexually active with my partner. I use the tools that we have today to prevent all these things and live the life I want to live, sex included.

Wow I hate her so much. I went to the Belmont-Paul National Women’s Equality Museum in DC over the summer. It was the house in which suffragists worked and is now the headquarters of the National Woman’s Party. At the end of the tour the guide displayed ERA posters and did a quick talk on Schafly. She had to play it

Thank you!! When I was a kid I was terrified of dogs, I had a genuine bonafide phobia. I used to hate going out and being confronted by an unleashed dog. It would really freak me out.

I’ve done that and so much worse...like it kills me that there may still be EMAILS OUT THERE that I sent to this one guy in particular. Can we just eternal-sunshine all of these guy memories *cringes to death*

Lol ugh I’m so happy that things worked out for you but reading through this thread is bringing back so many cringe memories for me...I would rather die than read the emails or texts that I’ve sent to certain guys over the years...

I can honestly say that I regret so hard every single text/email/voicemail I’ve ever left to a guy who was either ghosting me or being some sort of dickhead. I’m sorry he’s treating you in this way, dating can be so damn hard and with texting and the computer its only more complicated. My best advice is to let the

Thank you so much!

I agree! Full disclaimer: I am a white 24 year old woman so obviously I am in the target audience, but I really do think the show is well-written. There are some parts in Girls that feel so real it hurts, particularly when it comes to relationships. Its supposed to be a drama with a fair amount of comedy/satire.

The differences between urban poor and rural poor are striking. I would love to read more work comparing and contrasting the two plights, if you or anyone else on this thread has any suggestions.

Finally, a comment on Girls I agree with. I always thought the show was well aware of the awfulness/pettiness/childishness of the characters. I don’t get why everyone takes it so seriously.

See, I totally interpreted it differently. I very much felt like the show was aware of the characters and their ridiculous aspects. I remember everyone was up in arms the first episode when Hannah said “I am the voice of a generation,” because everyone thought it was so arrogant and small-minded and ridiculous. But I

Thank you. It really helps to hear that it is possible. There is really no backing out now, so its kind of just do what I have to do and either sink or swim.

Any National Park, really. Any naturescape can prove hazardous and dangerous to someone out there. My brother is a ranger in Biscayne National Park, off the Florida Keys. Its 95% water, so he deals with boaters. The accidents that he witnesses are crazy. A lot involve alcohol.

Thank you thank you thank you for telling me it is possible. Sometimes that is all I need to hear. Thank you :-)

Wow, are we the same person? Its my third year as well and I sponsor a few clubs too :-)

I guess I need a pep talk.

Honestly, I’m very happy to hear this about UChicago. Going to college and having my beliefs challenged, my viewpoint altered, and my ideas questioned, made me who I am today. I read work that was brutal, difficult to get through, and haunting, but it changed my life and opened my mind. As a history major, the entire
