This is not entirely correct. 12 was very young, even for this time in history. While it was not uncommon for 16 year olds and above to get married and start having babies, a 12 year old being courted by an 18 year old would definitely have gotten some raised eyebrows.

And what about the dog fighting and uses of bait dogs that occurs all across the U.S.A.??? One of my pet peeves is when Americans go overseas to do charity work* (and make a big deal about it) that they can do right here domestically.

One of my students had strep that traveled to the lining of his heart. He was in the hospital for about two weeks and almost died. He came back to school 20 pounds lighter, couldn’t do sports anymore, etc. Scary :-/
