Good thread!

Exactly, I was born and raised in Miami so for a Miamian to hear anything remotely positive about Castro feels super baffling. I’m not of Cuban descent, but almost everyone here is Cuban or Cuban-American. Everyday, hundreds of Cubans come to Miami from Cuba and never go back. Literally every single day.

Oh god, the TERF stuff. I remember when I first saw that word I was like “is that like someone who is obsessed with their neighborhood? (turf)”

These comments are weird. Cubans in America fucking hate Castro.

Yes! Oh my god, its all coming back to me. I used to have an acquaintance who wanted to be a midwife and she worked as a doula for a while. Which that in itself was a little odd because as far as I could tell she didn’t need to do anything to become a doula other than simply proclaiming “I’m a doula.” And when she

I think this accurately describes a sizable portion of the midwife community in the states. I have mentioned this before, but I used to have a friend who was a doula and aspiring to be a midwife. Looking back on it, she definitely was working/hanging with the least regulated midwives out there. Very new agey,

I remember that story, it was so interesting and weird.

This happens to me every. single. time. the draft comes up. I teach high school and its well known amongst my students that I am a card carrying feminist. Most of them are into it but I always have the boys ask me “well if you really want equality then I guess women should have to be drafted too, RIGHT?” And I nod and

Congratulations on the new baby! But yeah, its tricky. I am not at all opposed to midwifery and I do think some women with low-risk births should go for it if they want, but only with a trained midwife who has years of experience and a medical background. Not someone who thinks kale will treat strep throat!

I really love the song that line is from, I’ve been listening to it ever since I got home from work.

I live in Miami! And a bunch of my high school students are going tonight...I told them I understand if they can’t make it to class tomorrow because they’ll be catatonic after witnessing the amazingness that is sure to go down...I don’t usually condone absences, I promise!!

I used to have an (idiotic) acquaintance who wanted to be a midwife. She spent a few years as a doula before giving up the goal of midwifery and moving on to something else. I genuinely breathed a sigh of relief when she quit, because this girl was totally one of those naturopath, everything “organic,” alternative

Wow. Its like you took the same thoughts out of my head.

I was talking to my boyfriend about this today, haha. I was ruminating on it all and told him “maybe the sidechick is the winner after all. Beyonce is the one who stayed with Jay-Z in the end, Jay-Z looks like an idiot, but the side chick is just having fun and not giving a shit” (I am not condoning side chicks or

Thank you for saying this. Look, I think Jay-Z should get shit too, obviously. And would I slut-shame this woman or send her death threats? Never. But to act like she has nothing to apologize for and that she did absolutely nothing wrong is shitty. I have numerous friends that have turned guys down because they knew

This is random, yes, but just wanted to say that I started RHOBH and I'm obsessed. Its crazy, catty, extravagant, and gets dark! I'm only on the second season and Brandi Glanville was just brought in. I've been sprinting home from work and just immediately watching Real Housewives.

I really need some words of encouragement. I am 24 and in my second year of working full time as a teacher. I recently was accepted to graduate school at the local university, so I’ll be teaching and simultaneously working on my Master’s degree in Education. I’m so happy about my schooling and career, but other areas

That makes me so excited! Haha...I’m a teacher so I’m really looking forward to totally vegging out all summer watching Real Housewives.

I know its kind of late/random timing, but I just got into the Real Housewives franchise this week. My boyfriend and I couldn’t decide on a show to watch so in frustration he put on Real Housewives of Atlanta...and I love it. I’ve been coming home from work and watching episodes back to back. I plan on watching all

I chaperoned the 10th grade trip to D.C. last month and my god, the entire town is just full of young interns. SO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE.
