I have a friend who is Brazilian, but quite fair-skinned so you could say she is "passing." When she is out and about most people wouldn't know she is Latina (especially in a pre-dominantly white area). She used to say the n word all the time and it always made me a bit uncomfortable, but I didn't really say anything

1) I really, really despise Lana Del Rey. But at the same time she kind of weirds me out because she seems so...lifeless. Ever since she first came around she just seemed completely zonked out on something. I just get the feeling she really has no clue what she does, she just goes with whatever her managers/agents

For what its worth, this commenter is kind of a pill. I think your comment was spot on and completely rational. The whole world celebrates and even worships married women and mothers, so just let it go if one person is a bit grumpy. I agree entirely with what you said.

Pull out all the stops! Graduating college, getting a masters, or getting a PhD should be celebrated for everyone. Graduation-showers!!!!!!! What is your master's in?

Yeah -_- I showed my dad this video and we were cracking up, and he said that of course dogs get yelled at when they show aggression to cats - a lot of the bigger dogs could easily kill a cat, while a cat can't do any major or lethal damage to a dog.

This is why I hate baby showers, bridal showers, etc. Its celebrating normal things that women do, and its basically saying "congratulations hun you found a man! you did it! the highest accomplishment in your life!"

This is what really gets me. Like, most women don't have the luxury to stop working. Its so ignorant and backwards to act like the only reason women work is because they want to be feminists. Like...really? Its 2013 you'd think she know better, god damn.

Its cool to hear your perspective on it. A lot of my friends who dated older boys when we were in high school sort of took on this arrogant outlook about it, and it always bothered me. But it sounds like you've really made it work and understand the implications for a lot of other big age-difference relationships.

Please. The whole damn world rewards women when they get engaged, we're even taught that its really the only important thing in a woman's life. Engaged women receive PLENTY of attention and congratulations, I'm sure they'll live when one cynical friend does a funny hand gesture in an extremely cheesy photo.

This is hilarious. Its also really funny to see some of the commenters be SO OFFENDED by a small gesture that this girl probably did on a whim, after having to oh and aw over engagement rings all night.

Honestly, the craziest/most offensive thing in this article is how terrible the attorney is at spelling and grammar.

Did he re-write it? I don't exactly see what's wrong with it.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was referring mostly to the Madonna example - where a virginal little white girl can start being raunchy and its "liberating." I actually think we've regressed a bit and that these days there are soooo many young white girls doing the raunch thing, and older celebrities freak out over it.

EXACTLY! (Did I also just reply to a previous post of yours? If so, we're totally on the same wavelength).

Yeah...Lana Del Rey is heavily criticized all the time (as she should be). I'm convinced she's a literal robot.

You are implying that whatever a white woman does sexually, it will be seen as positive. I absolutely agree that WoC have different sexual expectations (from society), but to act like WW are never shamed for their sexuality is just wrong.

This is the problem that a lot of third wave "sex positive" feminists are creating.

Its like you're reading the thoughts in my brain.

That's weird, I check this site everyday and I don't remember anything like that happening with Erin Gloria Ryan. I must have missed it. But I'm curious now so...what happened?

This comment is beautiful and so much more progressive than anyone crying that its "cultural appropriation."
