Yeah, I wanted to student teach :( I tried to swap around my schedule so that I could make education my major but I settled on teaching a bit late in college, so I only had time to do the track they put me in. I do field experience/classroom observation, and I LOVE it.

I know this isn't the main point of your comment but there are some universities that have programs set up for secondary teachers that don't require a semester of student teaching. Alas, this may vary from state to state, but yeah. It's what I'm doing.

Honestly, this comment should be the last statement on all these millenial trend pieces and we should call it a day. Every single generation gets shit on when they're in their twenties. I'm sure when millenials grow up, they'll too be shitting on whatever 20 year olds are called then. NOTHING NEW.

What I think is super weird are the facebook fan pages for random children created by their parents, and then have some insane amount of likes (like over 100,000). Just because the baby is cute. I just feel like that's a huge example of smart phones and social media gone way too far. Of course parents always think

Right there with ya girl. That book specifically shaped my attitude on raunch culture and subjects like this - hooking up and getting completely wasted. In my experience, young women do that to please men. It doesn't seem very equal. And I go to a 4 year party school.

I'm late on this whole thread but just wanted to say thanks for this comment. There are like 5 different arguments going on, with most of them arguing that if other cultures do it then we're just racist. No. There IS such thing as an American culture, and we have rules on etiquette and manners just like everyone else.

I'm a few days late on this but just wanted to hop in and totally agree, I ALWAYS hear this "he needs to look like Dad" explanation. I always found that really baffling and sort of creepy haha, glad to hear someone else is confused on it too!

I'm thrilled to see this article. I get REALLY tired of the "(vapid pop star) is a feminist role model because she's A MILLIONAIRE!!!" No. That isn't how it works. Using your sexuality when you're insanely hot is not empowering for the rest of us. In fact it makes a lot of us (NOTICE I DIDN'T SAY ALL OF US) feel even

I don't really know why someone said it was so hilarious. I mean there are a few funny moments but I would never label it a comedy. It is very much a drama with some laughs sprinkled throughout. And its great!

True. In this context I mean radical as in, she has some strong beliefs that I can DEFINITELY see pissing people off, and she doesn't really hold back from saying them. A good number of feminists (mostly young ones) really did not appreciate Female Chauvinist Pigs, some have even called it transphobic and slut-shamey

I can see that, but I just love her. Female Chauvinist Pigs literally changed my life and laid out exactly what I had been thinking about but was just unable to put into words. That book carved out the discomfort I had/have felt with third wave feminism, and she's radical enough to, I think, alienate some people. I

I'm not a parent, and still pretty young so it probably won't be my reality for a while if at all, but I just want to say that your comment is refreshing in its honesty. I feel like on Jez I see a lot of parents write "well the other day my little angel came home and said _______" prompting a pretty big eye roll from

Agreed. I feel like kids are sort of, by nature, little brats. And it makes sense - for the first few years of their life they don't understand empathy or realize that the world exists beyond what they perceive. I remember learning all the developmental stages (mentally) in my education classes and it sort of shed

I really didn't mean anything by this comment...we have sort of a running joke that breakfast waitresses seem to love him. I'm not sitting there green with envy when we go out to eat.

Oh my gosh, I always say my boyfriend is just a magnet for waitresses. They love him!

Lets not allow this "study" to ruffle our feathers. The whole damn thing is entirely unrelatable for a lot of us, I bet.

That's actually, from what I remember, the very reason Jez DOESN'T do trigger warnings. In their opinion, there can be so many different things that might be triggering to a person, so ultimately they decided to just not deal with it. And I have to say I agree and that I respect their decision.

I definitely thought the photo was altered and then examined it and realized it was normal. Whoaaaa.

This feels a little odd to me. I look at "geek" as another sub-culture, and if I saw a similar video where people were holding signs about being "punk" or "goth" or a "jock" I'd view it as sort of try-hardy and weird. Nothing against geeks at all but I just feel like making a video like this is...strange.

Oh my god, THIS GIF.
