Maybe this will open up a number of administrative assistant and other entry level jobs there? Internships have taken the place of paid entry level positions for way too long. I'm in the museum field, and internships and fellowships have nearly replaced entry level positions.

You are making a great point—- I grew up as the only ( or 1 of maybe 2) black girls in a room/school/world of white friends and teachers and etc and this definitely has a feel of an adult looking back and placing their adult self into a kid situation. I remember feeling different around issues of hair and out of place

Yeah, I think the severity of the treatment is the thing that would have damaged his career? A friend's dad had tongue cancer and it was one of the roughest situations I'd ever hear of, jaw removed, half of tongue removed. Could no longer eat solid foods for at least a year before he passed away. It was a really

You are correct. Maybe this blind item is just pulling all of our legs and the actress doesn't exist? It should be easy to list celeb mothers who lost custody of their kids, right? But no one's got this. Blind items are Maddening.

Demi Moore sounds like the best bet —-although I don't think her kids are minors anymore? Halle is pregnant do that could be a tricky blind item way to get to "children". I'm so bad at these but it kills me that no one can get it yet. I was hoping that everyone would know right away and be able to tell me! :)

I love Warren too, and I hope she'll run maybe in 2020 or 2024. (Wow, that sounds far away) but I think she'll do a lot of good in her current position for a while, and I hope she won't rush out to the big race too soon and burn out. :)

That arrangement saved Britney Spears' life, most likely.

Yes, I am a late 30 something and I don't drink and it always amazes me to see how people react party drinks are offered and I just ask for water or soda. I'm treated like there is some 'weird religious reason' or like something is wrong with me. the reality is that I don't like the taste and have alcoholism in my

I don't think it is arrogant——especially in respect to young actors who have not had formal training. Adolf Menjou said a similar thing about Shirley Temple, that she had instincts about where to put her face and where to look and how to say a line or move around to steal a scene or hit her marks that adults spend

Yep, I tried to read up for a while on breastfeeding and unschooling and all of that stuff, but I'm not really interested (if these topics interested me, I would probably already have kids!) It's tough, because I want to be there for my friends and the most important challenges and joys that they are having, but I

Facebook babies—-please write more about this! Someone could write a book about 20 and 30 something single women trying to be friends with mommies with babies. My friends have been having kids for the last 9 years or so, and I still don't feel like I've figured out the balance very well.

Yes, my opinion about her changed completely when I saw her on Ellen meeting and singing with those 2 little british girls Sophia Grace and (of course I'm forgetting the name of the other little girl) but she was so normal and respectful and sweet and funny with them, it was really something. And she gave them a

I was a bit concerned to see that there was just a brief mention of sexual molestation in this, and (in a book with such detail and frankness about other sex related topics) it was a surprisingly vague passage. But thinking about it as I'm writing this, a family open enough to give their children this book has

Not happy about those new cookies, but look at those adorable Brownies! I loved my brownie troop 15 :)

Thanks! It is really interesting to see the way different generations (or groups within a generation) see things differently.

Could I ask how old you are? I have a theory that women of different age ranges view Jodie Foster differently, I'm 37 so tween/teen Jodie Foster is the way I first saw her (not taxi driver, but Disney movies and endless replays on the Disney Channel in the early 80s), and when I was a teen her work in The Accused was

Thanks, I have several friends who work in auction houses, and it does seem like a great place to be while trying to look for other related things. I will try to look into this.

There are fellowships that I'd love to apply for at the Met but they pay 35K at best, and I've watched my sister live in Brooklyn for the last 15 years on just her husband's (would be quite good anywhere but New York) income and I know that I couldn't possible live anywhere around the city in an apartment (with my

Thanks! 25K a year with years of experience. Just awful, really. I wonder if that has anything to do with a women-dominated field and women as a traditional second income for a family instead of a breadwinner income.

Oh, I'd agree, it isn't a high paying field by any means. But a number of 'traditional retirement aged' people in positions at museums aren't going anywhere, so those positions don't open up very often. I'm very big on go to school for the love of it (If I was good at ANYTHING that paid well...science...math....etc
