I'm not sure if this will help, coming from a complete stranger, but I read it for the first time and loved it when I was at the height of my pretentiousness, around 2002 or so when I was 21. I rarely read anything twice, but I decided to pick it back up again a few months ago, and I really enjoyed it the second time.
