I don’t doubt the relevance, but it still feels a little too ‘sweet’ for me (granted, I haven’t read the book, just this piece). I appreciate your point, but (imo) the chains don’t appear grisly — they seem really thin, in fact, and not very strong.

The summary sounds really chilling — so I have to wonder why they made the damn hardcover edition cover look like they saw the author is female and therefore dubbed it “women’s lit” without second thought.

My boyfriend has never liked marshmallows and now I understand why.

Alas, I’m kind of a prude. Took one look at the cover on Amazon and nope’d right out of there. Thank you, though!

I liked Nocturnal Animals a lot, so grain of salt and all that, but A Single Man is one of the closest things I’ve seen to a perfect movie. I can see why people wouldn’t like NA, but give ASM a try if you can.

Hey! Unsolicited advice, from one writer to another (feel free to dismiss me) — although I believe most of the stories are fake, I usually don’t feel right commenting about style/endings etc given the ‘rules of the game’ here. But, since you admitted it, figured I’d share:
