Sometimes mistakes can’t be undone :( It’s good that you recognized you were being ass. The worst people are always those who are copmletely oblivious.

Not exactly a great thing to hear after a breakup, but the number of people I know of who left LTRs because they didn’t want to commit only to get married in the blink of an eye... whoooooo boy.

Anecdotal, but: I used to think that (re: 7mo) until I met one of my best friends in grad school. She got married after 7 months and they’re celebrating their...10th wedding anniversary this year? I think, after some serious relationships, you know what you want and it’s easier to make those decisions.

False — if it’s not tenure-track (i.e. if he had accepted an adjunct position) it’s really not cushy, regardless of institution, and moving from adjunct to tenure-track is really, really, REALLY hard.

There’s a vast difference between adjunct professors and tenure-track. Not sure which he had, though.

Of course they’re important! “Humanities” research is real, important, and not some sort of “BS” where you just throw words at a computer screen.
