I might be inclined to agree with you, if there weren’t actual humans making death threats to this “influencer” based on the fact that they are... trans. That feels less like a grift and more like... just supporting someone who has the worst America has to offer aimed at them (and I’m not just talking about Bud…
Its stupid on so many levels.
Budweiser hanging her out to dry didn’t help their bottom line. It also gets to her point about abandoning a trans person being worse than not hiring one at all; that holds business-wise as well as morality-wise….if they’d stuck with her they *might* have had a chance of at least picking up some business from people…
God damnit...I get it, $12 million is a lot of money, I just wish these companies and people would quite settling with Fox News so all the juice can get spilled. We all know that organization is a shit stain, I want to know how big of a shit stain.
They do have mods.
Don’t leave out the new kid on the block!
I wish Giz media had mods.
Long past time to do something about the fucking trolls!
We stigmatize sex work legitimately performed by and for consenting adults while “excusing” actual sexual exploitation by “morally upstanding” institutions such as the Catholic Church.
And the timing is also suspect: Stewart’s purported request came in less than 24 hours after Smith first filed her lawsuit in state court.
At a minimum, the attorneys should face punishment from their bar associations, if not disbarment.
Man, I didn’t know you could take the “I’m gonna take a scenario and make up a completely different scenario to be outraged about!” all the way to the Supreme Court. And she’s probably gonna win.
So her argument is essentially that the icky gays might, potentially, at some point, be mean to her by...*checks notes*...paying her to do her job. Truly, nobody else has suffered more.
Not really a stupid question, but she wouldn’t have the standing to sue if there’s no risk of harm. The original defense the state presented for their laws against her discrimination attempted to argue she had no standing as no harm occurred and any harm was purely hypothetical at multiple levels. She/her absolute…
Except is is relevant, because Smith hasn’t suffered damages. No damages, no standing to sue.
Her original complaint only spoke of hypothetical harm. The false statement then alleged actual harm (or at least a basis to argue that it existed). If the case turns on whether she needs to show actual harm to have standing, then it certainly would matter.
Whaaaaa... a white Christian perpetual victim is making a completely made up bad faith argument?!? I just don’t believe it...
