"… it was more an attempt to make amends for her wrongdoing…"
There are definitely some good points to Teddy - but being sensitive to other people's feelings is not one of his strong suits. Most of us feel he was both an a$$hole to Daniel when he first got out of prison (disobeying his father and talking about the tire store with him), as well as a complete idiot in the way that…
No, that would be classified as just plain stupidity.
Thanks for the link! Great insights from relaxed douche face :)
Agreed. As I mentioned above, I also feel bad for both Tawney and Teddy - but I feel much of this terrible situation is due to the way that Teddy acted towards Daniel (as opposed to everyone else in the family) since he was first released. A little compassion and generosity from the very start would have gone a long…
Agreed. And I'm not sure if we're in disagreement anymore - I lost the bigger thread :)
One other point: infidelity (of whatever kind) requires a conscious act by the perpetrator. There was NO conscious act by Tawney - she just invited Daniel to her church - and then proposed he be baptized the next day. In fact, when she realized what was happening between Daniel and herself after the baptism, she broke…
"…but she did admit to Teddy that she had feelings for Daniel. For many couples, that's considered emotional infidelity…l"
Of course it happens - I would never deny that. I just think if Teddy was a bit less insecure - and reasonably supportive of Tawney (even after she admitted to 'feelings' towards Daniel) - all could have been fine between them.
Yes, yes, yes! I've been saying this same thing - with another poster arguing that Teddy was somehow 'in the right'.
Yes, I understand that - and, all things being equal, I would never deny that Daniel and Tawney are a better match than Teddy and Tawney.
"…footing the bill for his wife leaving him and running into the arms of…"
Yes, and any person that was truly sensitive to their partner would understand (since she told him of her desire to go back to school BEFORE the pregnancy) that there would automatically be some relief (mixed with all of the other emotions) to postpone the enormous burden of having a child until a slightly later date.
Maybe… but there is, in fact, an Echols County, Georgia.
You seem to be forgetting something at least as important as banishment (if he takes the plea deal): he will be a convicted murderer and felon.
I understand your point - but the same argument could be made for ANY of the crime-related scenes between any two characters (other than Daniel) that have been happening all season - Trey & George's Dad; the sheriff & the old sheriff; etc.
Well, even though I predicted the miscarriage here in the comments when Tawney's pregnancy was revealed, I still didn't think that IT was going to be the penultimate game-changer.
Again, very interesting information - thanks so much for sharing.
BTW, can the inmates apathy - or level of cooperation - be used as evidence against them in attempts to exonerate them or possible future trials?
