Exactly as much as mine I suspect. But I remain curious nonetheless if anyone will attempt a cogent rebuttal.

My rocker is just fine. I expounded in great detail why I thought this episode fell below Rectify's previously high-standards of writing. You, OTOH, have offered zilch.

From all I've observed in the show, it seemed as if Daniel NEVER believed that he raped Hannah. So does he believe George lied about that? Or does he believe Trey is lying when he reports that George lied? I'm struggling to reconcile what's been shown with Daniel's current behavior.

"Trey was confident that none of the "multiple" DNA samples taken from Hannah's body were his; ergo if he wasn't guilty of rape, surely his guilt has to lie in the murder?"

You're ignoring the more blatant about-face of Daniel's: the fact that he mentioned at least once (perhaps twice) that he didn't believe George was returning. Period. He didn't say "tonight" or "soon", he said "George ain't comin."

"…but their scenes just didn't live up to the bar of the first season."

"Also to top it off remember that he doesn't know that George is dead which means that in his mind all he did was pay a visit to George's house. I doubt that considering the situation and who he is that he would have the foresight to realize how badly this could screw him down the road."

I fully admitted (to #1) that it's left purposely unclear as to what Daniel really thinks about the road-trip with Trey (so far). So he might know/suspect more than is being revealed to us.

Wow, I'm rather surprised about the grade, review, and reactions. I thought this was the weakest episode of Rectify to date. There are several ways in which this episode either undermines or ignores what has come before - and as far as I can recall, this is the first time the show has done this.. falling into some

"…would that stuff even occur to you?"

Yes, that appears - at the moment - to have been an incorrect theory; although we don't know for sure if something else in going on in Daniel's mind about that visit to the trailer.

Exactly! I burst out laughing - and if I was the sheriff, I would have burst out laughing harder! :)

:D
Humor is one thing this show definitely needs more of - although they have managed to increase it somewhat since the relentlessly-downer opening episodes.

I think we just need to make a verb out of it - e.g.:

Yes. I was just trying to be polite.

I just watched the latest MoS and liked it. I actually think the season has been pretty interesting, reshuffling Bill and Virginia's relationship and where they're going to end up finally. But I do hope they'll get back to focusing on the study soon.

Will do! Thanks for the recommendation!

But you NEVER like The Leftovers or HACF, do you? ;)

Plus she wasn't buying groceries for her non-existent family or stalking the pre-school teacher. We'll just have to see if it sticks.

Wasn't the whole point of both excessive party scenes the idea of increased nihilism in the world? I seriously doubt the writers believed that either one was a reflection of current reality.
