"Aboriginal Peoples" is sort of an all encompassing term that includes First Nations, Metis, and Inuit. The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples includes all three.

Even if it's technically correct, referring to Canadians as Americans in almost any capacity is a recipe for snarly face and indignation. It's best to never, never do that.
Canada does not have "Native Americans of Canada." We have First Nations, First Peoples, or aboriginal peoples, that last of which includes Inuit and Métis as well as First Nations.
