The offical AV Club party line is that The Last Jedi was an amazing movie that revitalized the Star Wars franchise, and if you didn’t like it you are a sexist CHUD who deserves to rot in your parents’ basement for all eternity.

Except it wasn’t a mess from start to finish. It has issues, but it’s a good film overall.

I’m imagining writing that to one of my brothers, and using their last name when cursing them. It’s a nice touch!

I feel pretty confidence that hell doesn’t exists but boy I wish it did. 

There were several damning parts of this email dump that stood out to me, and the most satisfying one was the missive from his own brother, which I’ve included below (quoted from this Vulture article), emphasis mine.

I think part of the problem she is having right now is that she is naturally pretty deep, but at the end of the day is just kid (and honestly a kid with a kind of shitty education), so she gets put on the spot a lot and sounds stupid.

The oversized suits “make him look slimmer” and the ties “taller.” I’m sure he believes the orange makes him look healthier. There is literally no rationale to this man’s behavior.…

look, he is not a professional make up artist, but he thinks he is.
