His passenger was pretty chill, lol.
My friend did similar to my dirt bike when we were kids. Begged me to let him ride it. I patiently explained how everything worked. He said he got it. Then he froze with the throttle pinned. Nailed a water well. Ran home screaming.
Another 30+ yr. rider here and have to agree. Watching the video again, I would not have got into that particular situation as I would have initially accelerated past that truck. He had lots of time and space to use the bike’s superior acceleration but that is just this particular scenario.
Nope. Different guy.
It’s not for everybody. I don’t climb mountains. Some people seem to love it. Go figure. A balance of risks and rewards. I go ATGATT and ride very defensively when around traffic and obviously have a lot of experience. Not saying I won’t get taken out someday but the rewards over the years have been incalculable.
I have been on motorcycles since I was 6 years old. I am now 56 with a Ducati, Harley and Honda dirt bike in the garage. Had two relatively minor crashes in all those years. I ride because I love it. Simple as that. It is part of life for me. A big part.
I hear you. She makes sure she has a kleenex in her pocket for those road trips.
Great story. We are driving a ‘98 Corolla 3spd auto. I bought it used in’05 for my daughter’s high school years. I then got her a new Accent when she graduated Uni. in 2012 so we re-inherited the Toyota. We beat the hell out of it and it just keeps going.
I was just talking about this with my wife yesterday. This is a big problem in the Vancouver area. Raining is common here. Night time happens regularly too. Driving last night at dusk with spitting rain, I would estimate only 3 out of 10 drivers had there actual headlights on. The rest were totally oblivious.
Wow, so many in this thread gave up a bike for a car. I have never bought a convertible because I have always had bikes. I am 57 yrs. old and as long as I am physically able I will keep riding. A Spyder seems like a joke to me so I guess if the time comes I will have to consider getting rid of my non-vert 997 and…
Not surprised at all that this happened in Vancouver.
