Just like child rape, there is only one valid defense to having sex with someone in police custody -

Indy Car at COTA would be a great race

But Gossage was not thrilled, citing a “regional protection clause” that keeps things like NASCAR from going to other tracks in the state during the series’ contract with TMS.

IndyCar-IMSA doubleheader!

The IndyCar fans I know don’t watch much NASCAR. Most NASCAR fans I know don’t watch much IndyCar. Both watch their series races at TMS and say it was just OK. Of course Eddie Gossage is worried. Robosouraus can only do so much!

Indycar should tell tms to shove it. Why would anyone want to go to a cookie cutter 1.5mile oval and not a f1 class race track. If I was head of the austin track I would pick whatever date that tms has penciled in for next year and tell indycar thats the only date that will work for me. If i indycar cant find

Muh free market

Eddie Gossage is such a dick.

As soon as I read the title of this article I knew the answer: Eddie Gossage. Local radio used to have him on all the time even when he just had one NASCAR race and nothing else.

Indycar-Moto GP doubleheader?

“We don’t need another (race) in the market to cause people to make choices and decisions.”

Gossage is a first-class bitch. His 1.5 mile oval races are insufferably boring (especially the NASCAR RACES). This is why he doesn’t want competition. If there’s another choice no one would go see the shit racing at TMS. I hope he and his track end up like Texas World Speesway. Race fans would be the winners.

One of these years I hope the sanctioning bodies tell Gossage and SMI to shove it. The track hasn’t produced decent racing in years. They’re clinging to that contract because it’s all they really have left. All that money dumped into promoting the 3 major weekends at TMS, and have had hardly anything in return the

Nobody is optimistic about the track, we are optimistic that it will be a complete disaster. And not a disaster like stage racing, disaster in a fun way.

Totally agree. I don’t care how hard it would be to accomplish, but street races in NASCAR cities would be legendary. I’d actually go! Race through uptown Charlotte, downtown Atlanta, Nashville, Richmond, etc. That’d be so cool.

How about street courses? Winston West had 2 in 87 (Tacoma and Spokane) alongside Sonoma and Riverside.

Going to be interesting to see what the tire makeup is going to be. High speed oval uses different construction right to left, while road course is a different construction... Road course type tire on the high bank... hmm...

with taser

So much this. If NASCAR wants to stay popular, I think much more of this is needed . Ovals are fine, but turning right needs to be in the mix. As a fan of motor sports for a long time, I have been waiting for the governing body to put more road races on the schedule . I know you can put more butts in seats around
