crazy to me that a movie with an indigenous caricature named “Fire Water” played by.... Bill Hader, and manyyy other SUPER dicey racial sterotype characters is getting a spin off series. kind of crazy that any of the people involved still have careers honestly, especially Bill. love the guy but I can’t believe they…
an international group of scientists who have designed a diet intended to give people the nutrients they need without destroying the planet. It consists of roughly 35 pounds of meat per year
Do people not like Adam McKay movies now? Don’t Look Up was hard to watch but The Big Short and Vice are both LOVED in my family and among my friends and I rewatch them both at least once a year.
oh what?? that’s wild. That’s one of my actual favorites and I have a friend that I rewatch it with at least once a year. It’s like a crazy portrait of a real life villain, but maybe there’s a factor of we both grew up with Cheney as VP so he’s always been a sort of caricature monster in our minds.
he just put out a statement saying “all my standup bits are based on events that happened to me,” which to me is worse than just admitting you make things up and you’re a regular middle class guy from California. no one ever sent you or anyone in your family white powder, the Saudis were never coming after you…
the new yorker says he’s reaffirmed the anthrax and Brother Eric stories in interviews, they bring it up to him and he kind of backtracks if you read the whole article, by the end of it he’s stopped directly interviewing with the journo and responding through his team.
yeah but I’m guessing every person in the entire theater didn’t dress up and they probably weren’t showing it on every screen, although I wouldn’t really know because I was a toddler when that movie came out
saw it Sunday night and I have to say, being in a theater full of women wearing pink was a special experience. I don’t think I’ve ever had a move going experience like this, and doubt one will ever come along again (though I would love if going to the movies dressed in character became the new trend and this is what…
that part! the fireflies have been so incompetent this entire time. The first meeting of Joel and Ellie he’s taking her as cargo because their compound got WRECKED. Then they show up at the state capitol building, THAT group got wrecked and infected too, that’s how he ends up with her in the first place!! They’re…
They’re really taking a lot of the criticisms of GOT and learning from it. So far they’ve unburied the gays, added diversity, added female directors and sex scene coordinators, refuse to show rape on screen, etc. Other franchises could take a note. I’m really enjoying this series so far.
I’m trying to be generous and attribute that one to rushed writing, not an entire plot point missed. But.... yeah.
I’ve been holding back on criticizing these reviews but I’m starting to get genuinely annoyed at the sloppiness. So many mistakes like...
That’s why Daemon murdered that random guy -- that was the body they burned instead of Laenor’s.
a c section is not just cutting into the womb and killing the mother — when they discuss it in episode 1 they accept that cutting into her will kill her, that’s pre-c section times. the c section is the procedure that allows us to cut into the uterus without killing the mother.
she didn’t just think she’s was going to die: she was dying. the surgeon said the baby won’t come: life threatening situation. this is pre-c section times, if the baby is stuck in the birth canal, which actually becomes more likely after multiple pregnancies/births, during birth the mother will hemorrhage and die.
it’s not the choice Daemon was given either: the surgeon basically said “I’m at my wits end, maybe I could save the baby maybe not” which implies Laena is not going to make it.
the plot hole was created because they deviated from the book. in the book, Cole kills Joffrey during one of the wedding tournaments which is an event where it’s just kind of accepted participants might die, so Cole getting away with it scot-free makes wayyy more sense.
that wig they had Rhaenyra in for the wedding was.... well it sure was something
this is why the time skips really bother me! if the characters got a bit more development before their deaths maybe it wouldn’t feel like they’re basically being discarded.
