Yeah, U-Haul trailers are great for long trips, because you don’t get charged mileage.   I buy stuff at auctions for resale and I’ve rented them a couple times for picking stuff up.

Wow, that’s an even worse thing to happen to a parking garage than a U-Haul.

My favorite story about cops using tracking devices is still the time the Baltimore City Gun Task corruption was discovered because they had attached a tracking device to the Jeep of a drug dealer they were robbing, and it was found when the sheriff’s office from a neighboring county went to take their device off the

It sounds like she’s the one who called them serious. From the WBRZ article:

Tiara Beverly said she was arrested last month on serious drug charges.”

So was the Northridge Earthquake picture chosen because it looks dramatic, or because it’s somehow related to the article?

Because with the headline, it sort of gives one the impression that the I-5 collapse was caused by some kind of corruption, and a quick googling doesn’t bring anything to back that up. It seems

“civil legal immunity” means that they can’t be sued. It doesn’t mean “criminal legal immunity”, which would mean that they can’t be charged with a crime.

Which means that while the Jalopnik headline is technically correct (the best kind of correct), it also leaves off one of the most important qualifiers, and gives

maybe he’s just worried he’ll encounter a speed bump that’s too high for it on his trip.

Heh. One of my coworkers has a used Vibe he bought in 2006. It was an enterprise ex-rental. It now is missing a door handle, has 2 and a half hubcaps, and half the body panels are a different shade of white because he’s had like 3 people hit him, but it still runs and AFAIK he hasn’t done anything major repair-wise.

I see this is equipped with the bed extender option, in rustic pallet finish.

The best-selling car of 1980 was the Oldsmobile Cutlass, which I would only want if I could get it in lowrider form.

It seems like it could be useful if you are mobility impaired and can’t easily make the walk.

Or in my case, if you are just really fat because you spent all day at the Wicked Spoon buffet.

So this is something I used to believe. But several years ago, I was given a free minivan.. which wouldn’t pass state inspection because the tires were old and dry rotted. So I bought brand new tires.

A year later, I had put less than 10,000 miles on it when it threw a rod. I donated it to the ASPCA, who I’m sure

It’s really more about spending within your means than buying new or used.   Buying a new Civic is a better financial decision than buying a used BMW that costs the same price.     Sometimes the spread between a new and used car isn’t that much if you are able to negotiate a good deal on the new one or it’s got a

I don’t know about that. A top of the line new Ram 3500 Limited can go close to triple digits.

It looks like Westlake only does used cars, so probably not that much, but a used decent trim Ram can be pretty pricey, and trucks generally hold their value pretty well.

Yeah.  “This was a bad decision and you are a bad person for making it” isn’t going to help.   “This was a bad decisions, but I get that you made it because you didn’t know the consequences or alternatives at the time, and here is why it hurt you, and this is how you can avoid it the next time” is exactly what needs

There’s a world of difference between “don’t be underwater on a loan” - that is, don’t take out a loan that’s for more than the collateral for the loan - and pay cash for everything and never take a out a loan.

If the car has comprehensive insurance - which it must, because a finance company would require it - it would probably cover the transmission if it was really damaged during the tow, and then the insurance company would go after the tow company’s insurance.

I call it “Kermit”, but an online acquaintance of mine calls it “Screaming Broccoli”

CUV’s are a box. There’s only so much you can do with a box, and making it too curvy cuts down on the amount of people and cargo that you can carry, which is the whole appeal of a CUV.  People don’t buy them for the looks.

Yeah, I was driving home from work the day this happened and put on a news station and this was the only thing they were talking about.

Like, really, this is the only thing that’s happening in the world, during a pandemic and the first couple months of a new presidency?
