Apparently my worst habit is driving 5-7 mph over the speed limit. It’s too fast for my spouse and not fast enough for the other drivers aggressively weaving through traffic to get to the next stoplight 20 seconds faster.
As someone that has driven that stretch of highways between Denver and Chicago many times, I agree 110%. You’d think there would be little traffic as you’re passing nothing but corn and soybeans for hours, but the road is full of left-lane campers and packs of semis passing each-other at 64MPH. Also lots of state…
Agreed, I would love to do this conversion with a modern diesel and non-mudding tires. It seems perfect for road-trips except for how much the gas would cost.
My wife’s 07 Fit had one almost as bad as that when she was street-parking near a bunch of squirrels (and maybe mice). They had started stashing/eating food inside the engine compartment and a bunch of poop and acorn husks migrated into the cabin air filter. I have never told her about this because she hates rodents…
My launch PS4 has been repaired or replaced by Sony four different times (twice for disc and twice for total fail). It’s not loud at idle or playing video, but when a game pushes it the PS4 fan gets so loud it can be heard screaming through a closed door. To be fair, it has been run for thousands of hours with lots of…
Yeah, same here. One corgi fit in the Accord with room for a cooler, but two do not so we sold the sedan and got an Outback.
I have not tried an Aeron before, but I recently upgraded my home office with a Secret Labs Titan. It has excellent support for both upright typing and more relaxed gaming/lounging since it has separate back-recline and tilt-recline motion. Fully reclined, I’m almost horizontal but the metal chair base is stable…
If you want to go JDM, the local importer here in SW WA has some nice Mitsu Delicas and a Toyota HiAce that would definitely stand out from the minivan crowd but give you all the family-sized functionality. $10k under your limit to pay for delivery, or the 3000 mile road trip home would give you plenty of time to get…
Excellent choice. Just drove my partner’s 07 Fit Sport to the dump today with over 600 pounds of rotted fence wood. After 110k miles the only unexpected maintenance has been replacement coils. It’s not the most comfortable cruiser for Interstate travel, especially if you (like me) drive over 70 and tax the 5-speed,…
First off, good luck! If a plane/airport wasn’t suddenly the scariest place on earth I’m sure there would be plenty of people volunteering to help with rapid wrenching and maybe pranking that neighbor.
For the DMV question, I wouldn’t give up hope. We bought our car out-of-state less than a week before the WA DMV closed and got our plates about 5 weeks later. Luckily, the dealer thought ahead and provided us with an extra temporary tag so we were covered for a total of 6 weeks. They also got the sales taxes and…
Agreed. The wife’s 07 Fit Sport has 110k miles and other than routine maintenance the only expenses have been new coil packs around 75k.
Agreed. I bought a car 3 weeks ago and now that the WA DOL is closed indefinitely I have no idea when I’ll get plates for it. Luckily I did it early enough that I was able to get insurance coverage before that office closed.
Can’t lie, the first thing my wife mentioned when we heard about the stimulus check was a roof-pod for the new Outback. I’m not so sure about the basket since I’d want my stuff to be dry and bug-free when I get to the campsite.
Neutral: Last week we sold my 03 Accord and purchased a CPO 2019 Subaru Outback. Given all the emails/SMS I’ve continued to get from local dealers I think I could have saved a bit more by waiting until now to purchase, but I’m still happy with our decision. We got good money for my old Accord and a great interest rate…
Don’t worry - I did not buy a new Outback. Found a 2019 dealer loaner CPO for under KBB that was miraculously not White or Beige. Worth the 45 minute drive across Portland traffic. Now we can start paying this down and saving up for the fun and unreliable old car I really wanted.
At least I’m not the DBag I saw at Safeway buying one cart full of Clorox wipes and Kleenex and a second cart full of shitter paper. Can confirm he hauled that home in a BMW.
I am struggling with that too, but pricing here near Portland is crazy. The dealer has many 2020 Subaru OB Premiums listed for $30k, and non-CPO 2018 OBs with around 20k miles listed for $26k. I have not done any haggling yet, but if they are only discounting used models by a few grand I think the current 0.9%…
