I have never, ever heard that engine braking (or coasting in gear) is bad for any car. Who are you talking to that thinks that it is? Are you sure it’s engine braking that’s the question, or is it downshifting? On a manual, I rarely downshift because over time it’s extra wear on the clutch, transmission and the shift…
