Meh. His original sentence was fine... "expecting" and "I know" could be argued to have a slightly different level of finality. And reorganizing the sentence your way only changes the order, not the clarity. His sentence was fine.

Agreed. From a distance, I thought it was the old 90s band "Living Color" but after making my way over I quickly realized just how wrong I was... it was awful. AWFUL, I tell you!

I like it, but I think this early in the game the goal should be to reduce the price of 3D printing, not increase it. Yes, it's cool... but at $1700+ not too many folks are going to be buying. Probably fewer than have bought the original Cupcake and much fewer than the Thing-O-Matic.

I know... slow news day probably.

Start watching Israel. I predict a serious strike within the next 3 to 6 months by Israel. They will not allow this — they've said it plenty over the years, in very clear language. Iran's poking a bear that is already pissed off. It's coming.

Yes, he is. I believe Gizmodo keeps him around because his nastiness stirs up readers and maybe generates higher page views. I can't believe the editors at Giz keep him around.

Anyone seen this nice little threat from Paul: [twitter.com]

I think Jesus is one of those bloggers who tries to stir the pot for page views. I may be wrong. But easily over 50% or more of his blog posts are just rambling, rage tests of some sort or just poking sticks at bears to get reactions. This post would have been so much better if it had just been a nicely researched

Sheez, Jesus, how many comments are you going to send to purgatory? Folks don't agree with your one-sided post, so you give them a week ban? Nice. See you in a week. Maybe use that time to look up "balanced reporting."

I always love the cold heartless posts during the holiday season. Reminds me how good I have it when some people can't see the good in anything.

Exactly right, amp beetle. Screw books. You just keep on being you... to hell with grammar and spelling. Whu nedes that stuf aniwaze?

"Their" has become acceptable, but it's still not proper. My bigger gripe was simply the headline was a pure mess. Even accepting "their", it should still have been written as "Students... Go... Their iPhones." Noun and verbs were a mixture of singular and plural and hurt my ears.

No. It's not. Go pick up any book on grammar and you'll find that "their" is a plural term. Thanks for playing.

No, because using "his" as a stand in gender term is acceptable under most grammar rules.

I'm sorry to be nitpicking here, but does Kotaku have editors? The headline should read "Student Who Never Goes Anywhere without His/Her iPhone" or "Students Who Never Go Anywhere Without Their iPhones." I can deal with grammar/spelling issues in the content, but come on — it's the headline!

Based on their size, I'm betting they were used for some sort of carpentry or metal working task — we have sawhorses and clamps and other tools... they used grooves cut in the ground to hold planks and other items.

Agreed... I think most folks in general are a miserable lot these days. Out of 10 comments, only 1 was somewhat positive.

Doesn't seem to be detecting anything even though I'm fairly certain my phone is one CarrierIQ should be installed on. Maybe we've all just installed a super version of CarrierIQ?

Until we get some peace in this neck of the solar system, the space elevator is completely useless. Every terrorist organization in the world would be gunning for it daily with bombs, drones, missiles, you name it.

All I can think of after having read this is The French Revolution. When the rich have it all and there's nothing else left for the other 99%, there will be rebellion. Some of it will be violent, some of it will be peaceful (stopping work), and 100% of it will come as a surprise as the masses wake one day to realize
