Doesn’t matter what you think. The reason why journalism exists, in fact, why journalists exist, is to be the nosy parker in the world. This includes taking a look at public figures who demand and want fame (which is a why people write books or run for office in the first place), yet do not want the responsibilities

You give up the right to privacy the moment you choose to become a public figure in the public square. That’s been the rule of life since Gutenberg began printing books. If Anita Raja (also known as Elena Ferrante) didn’t want to be a public figure, then she shouldn’t have started writing books.

Pretty much. A public figure can seek privacy as much as they want, but they are not entitled to it. Because they have chosen to be a public figure (unlike those who end up in the spotlight because of circumstances such as being a hero in a tragic incident), they have already given up their right to privacy.

They all say that.

Of course, if you are Native, you are probably more-offended by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Education’s failure to get asbestos out of its school buildings than either the gesture or the slur. Because cancer and genocide.

Or maybe, it is because average people don’t enjoy driving. For most people, nearly all of them spending zero time on Jalopnik, cars are merely utilities that make transportation easier, more-convenient and (in some cases) more cost-effective than biking, walking, riding horses and buggies, or public transport.

Which is true for nearly all teams. Most franchises aren’t the New England Patriots (playoff appearances for nearly every year since 2002), Green Bay, New York Giant, Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks. In general, teams have brilliant leadership and talent for a short period of time (or in the case of Washington

Orange is only good in small doses, or if more than that, in pastel colors or with a tinge of red). Those Dolphins uniforms were pure shit.

Except that the Redskins and the Lions can at least claim at least two playoff appearances since the 2002 seasons (the Redskins making the playoffs four times). The Dolphins only made it once in that time - and haven’t made it since 2008.

Stafford and Ryan can actually pass in this league. Stafford is doing better this year despite not having Megatron and Ryan is doing better even with Julio Jones being cast aside by the offense. Give both competent coaches (Belicheck or even Pete Carroll) and they would be playoff contenders. [I’ll put Cousins in the

As we have seen with Lena Dunham, Gavin McInnis, and many a white person since the days of Rudyard Kipling and “white man’s burden” being well-traveled and exposed to diversity doesn’t mean being diverse or open-minded in thinking. I know plenty of white people who have never ventured beyond the South Side of

“Racial insensitivity” is the nice way of putting it. Hough is probably a bigot.

But Obama doesn’t need to be America’s dad. He’s the leader of the government of the country, and his concern should solely be with governing and protecting the freedoms which God and nature (as well as the Constitution) has endowed us. As a politician, Obama has a penchant for being even-handed; being a black man, it

Perhaps the intentions were good. But in life, outside of criminal cases, intentions don’t matter. Results and consequences do. Additionally, the Clintons, through their founding of the Democratic Leadership Council, engaged in a strategy of being more “law and order” and, in many ways, less progressive, than

Yes it is. But I can’t hate the Spurs. It is a model for what the Knicks should be, if its owner would choose to embrace it.

Originally, Stanford’s nickname for its teams was the Indians. It was changed to Cardinals in 1972, and then to Cardinal in 1981. Basically, as with Syracuse, Stanford stopped being obviously racist.

Obama may be the Commander-in-Chief. But he is also an American citizen -- and that comes first. This means that as a citizen, he can disagree with veterans and military members and their families even though he is the leader of the military. Given that the military is also subservient by law to civilian government

It isn’t just about the “superpredators” statement. It is also about the fact that she and her husband, the former president, were responsible for passing Drug War and police legislation that has led to more black people being put into prison and being brutalized by cops just for driving with taillights out.

Not true at all. Voting is just one part of citizenship, and if you know anything about how government really works (lobbyists, campaign donations, redlining of administrative rules that often structure how legislation is carried out in real time), not even the most-important. There are also lawsuits against

Why should someone deciding to be a Jehovah’s Witness bother you? As with choosing to be in any religious, or not choosing to be religious (or a believer at all), it is a personal choice, one that doesn’t affect you in any way. If someone’s religion stops you from admiring their talents and achievements, then that is
