Honestly if they truly want to put preservation at the forefront not only add 360/og xbox backwards compatibility to windows 11 (they already have a built in android emulator in windows 11) but open up the settings for it for the fans to do a lot of the work themselves. I get why it doesn’t work on a retail series X…

Did the switch hold back the industry? If not then I don’t think this truly holds water as justification. Switch has a much larger install base than all xbox one/series consoles combined. 

The best console is the one that’s in front of you. I don’t play PC games a lot, but I got a NUC for couch gaming and I don’t think I’ve used my actual PC (which is not a gaming PC but has beefier specs) to play anything in months because it’s up in my office/studio.

I’ve got a Series S and a Series X, and I have to say I love the S. It ends up getting more playtime due to it’s more convenient location, but the games look just fine on it and the thing is small and cheap. I’m glad MS is sticking with it. 

It makes a hell of a difference if I don’t have to pay another $500 for a second console just to play the next Spiderman game.

I’m not super thrilled they seem to be leaning much harder into the Survival Horror aspect then the Action Horror like the first game was (I too am not great with jump scares), but I trust Remedy to know what they are doing game play and story wise. I haven’t been disappointed in a game they’ve made since Max Payne 1.

This is a reductive way of putting it, but in general the Switch should be able to run anything from the Xbox 360 or PS3 era about as well as it ran on those systems. That doesn’t seem to be the case here but I also wouldn’t be shocked if this is a relatively quick port job without too much focus on optimization.

I think the baseline expectation was that if all the prior (slower) platforms for the HD collection have supported 60fps that the Switch would as well.
