The misconception that cops are some other class of human being is constantly being challenged, yet people still hold onto their unrealistic ideals, hoping for the best. The reality? There are really nice, honest and hardworking cops, and there are also power-crazed, egomaniacal sadists like this jerk. I agree,

Equally in hilarity to climate change trolls is the thinly veiled contempt disguised as mild bemusement which climate change proponents spew at these trolls. Last I heard, trolls weren't too picky about what they eat - so don't feed them at all.

Embedded videos are preferable. I went back and forth for the first 2 or 3, but my desire for nostalgia wore out before I clicked the 4th link. Maybe I'm just lazy...

Glad to hear it. We all can get a bit pedantic from time to time - Monday is usually the day I reserve for feeding my urge, although if I have a bad day at work, it seems to come out on its own.

Educated Mac owner: You can type "does not equal" on a Mac by holding "ALT" and typing an =. Thus: ≠.

Glad you got it. I agree though, I tripped and stumbled over that omission as well. I may need some Bactine for the scrapes my grammar bone sustained.

It was a playful elbow in the ribs when I noticed that both you and nomad had noticed mistakes, and shared a common prefix. I've corrected grammar on Giz before as well, and I don't criticize others for doing it (unless they're being jerks). It was all tongue in cheek and hyperbole for a bit of fun - nomad got it;

In other news: Commenters whose avatars begin with "nom" are more likely to become grammar nazis. ;)

The benefits of spray painting your poop with EDIBLE spray paint are?

Are you KIDDING me? You included Player of Games, but DIDN'T include Ender's Game? Granted, it was written 3 years before ('85), but still. WAY more influential, and definitely explicitly about games - it's the central plot of the whole book (and the basis for the other books in the quartet).

"This has always been an issue of computer semi- or illiterate."

Hilarious. Love this guy.

Queue the load of snarky "but I thought Macs don't get viruses/malware" comments. Educated Mac owners understand to use the internet & email responsibly. Most of us would laugh in derision if asked to authorize a program install we didn't initiate. But there ARE still some who think Macs are invincible, and as such

I completely agree. Every large company is doing this - Apple is actually rather late to the "party", as it were. They're also rather prodigious at winning these cases, most likely due to their rather substantial "war chest", which dwarfs most other companies' by ridiculous margins.

That's a subjective assessment. Yes, carbon fiber is an awesome building material. But expecting everyone to think that it is "useless and ugly" unless it has a function is ridiculous. I happen to like the look and texture of carbon fiber immensely. And so do a lot of other people. Why do you think that almost all

I don't think anyone thinks the current patent system is adequate - of course we need patent reform. That said, Apple is playing the game and so is everyone else who can afford to. I see the argument for protecting intellectual property, and I also see the claim that something this generic shouldn't qualify for it.

This is key - hot water has an entirely different effect on adhesives and soap, so it's almost a necessity to make this part of the equation.

Great. Now I can have my dog bark every time my phone rings. Thanks! ;)

Sure, blame the Sun for THEIR knee-jerk pseudo-fiction. They're completely to blame, and Sam/Gizmodo have no blame for giving them undo credibility. I'll bite...

iHope.
